Happy Allotments Week
This week we're celebrating National Allotments Week with members of the Park Road Allotment Association.
Park Road is our newest allotment, having secured the future of this site through a long-term lease with Northumberland Estates earlier this year. But we want to celebrate all our allotment holders for creating beautiful spaces where people and nature can thrive together.
Why breast screening matters
 |
|
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women in the UK.
Women aged 50 to 70 are invited for NHS breast screening every three years. In Hounslow, for every 10 women invited for breast screening, only six currently attend their appointment.
It's important that women attend screenings as early detection significantly improves the chances of survival.
Women of all ages should also check their breasts regularly and look out for the following symptoms: a lump or swelling in the breast, chest or armpit; a change in the size or shape of a breast; skin changes such as dimpling, redness or puckering.
Anyone with symptoms should contact their GP.

Local children ask that you stay safe near open water
Staff and children at St Mark's Catholic School sadly lost a fellow student and friend to drowning in 2022.
The students do a huge amount of work to raise awareness of water safety and have formed a group of Water Safety Ambassadors. They visit local primary schools to educate and help other children to stay safe.
Please take a look at their film and share with young people and parents

If you're carrying a knife for protection, it can put you at greater risk of becoming involved in violence. If you’ve got a knife or other bladed weapon, there are safe, anonymous ways to get rid of it.
A knife surrender van will be in Feltham Park on Thursday, 27 August from 10am to 1.30pm, and the permanent knife surrender bin on Feltham High Street is available 24/7 all year.
Both surrender options are anonymous with no questions asked.
