Hounslow Council awards nearly £17,000 to local community groups
 This week, Hounslow Council has awarded £17,000 to 27 local community groups in the borough through its Thriving Communities Fund.
The fund supports community-led projects that help residents connect, improve their wellbeing and create stronger, more resilient communities across the borough.

Meet the winner of our very first Hogarth Prize
 Following more than 1,500 submissions from artists across the UK, Dr Adam Perchard has been named the first-ever recipient of the Hogarth Prize for their work, Leviathan.
The Hogarth Prize exhibition, showcasing 70 shortlisted works by 56 artists, is now open and free to visit until 6 September.

New community mosaics brighten up Feltham High Street
Months of creativity have come to life on Feltham High Street with the installation of colourful new community mosaic tree rings.
The mosaics were created by pupils from Logic Studio School, Reach Academy, Reach Academy Hanworth Park, River Academy, Springwest Academy and St Lawrence Catholic Primary School.
There was also input from local residents and community groups.
dThe mosaics were designed during workshops held between January and March, led by artist Susie John alongside TimeGivers and Feltham Arts.
The finished artworks add colour and character to the town centre.

Join us at our popular Carer Café upstairs at Chiswick Cinema for respite, connection, advice and guidance. No need to book, just turn up and feel free to bring the person you care for.
Shape young people's healthcare
 The NHS in West and North London wants to know how best to engage young adults (18-25) in decisions about their healthcare. It would also like to hear from groups and individuals who work with young people.
You can join a two-hour online workshop from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday, 5 August to find out more and share your thoughts with the experts.
Free active bystander training
 Ever witnessed someone being harassed in public and wished you’d felt more confident in knowing how to help?
88% of people in the UK have experienced some form of unwanted behaviour on public transport in the past five years, with the most common behaviours being staring, intimidatingly sitting or standing right by someone, and verbal abuse. However, 84% said the situation was improved when someone intervened.
Join a free 30-minute webinar on Tuesday, 11 August from 12pm, and learn how to be an active bystander when you see harassment taking place, without putting yourself at risk.
Careers service for young people
In August, particularly in the days leading up to and following GSCE and A-level results days, the Council will provide enhanced support for school leavers aged 16 to 18 who are uncertain about their next steps or whose plans have changed.

Share your views on proposed new home for children with disabilities
 The Council plans to develop a new Westbrook Short Break Unit and Children with Disabilities Home at Vicarage Farm Road, a short distance from the existing site in Heston. We would like to hear from the local community about how this could affect them.
The project aligns with the Council's vision for a healthier, thriving, and safer Hounslow and adheres to Green by Design principles.
Local residents are encouraged to attend a drop-in session on Monday, 3 August at the Heston Library Community Room, where members of the project team will be available to discuss the proposals and answer any questions you may have.
The session will take place between 2pm and 7.30pm, and you are invited to attend at any time during these hours to view the designs and share your feedback.
