West Thames College granted renewed lease for De Brome building in Feltham
 The Council has granted a 125-year lease of the De Brome Building in Feltham to West Thames College (WTC), commencing in the new academic year, September 2026.
The decision further solidifies the presence of WTC in Feltham and supports the Council’s strategic objectives for inclusive growth, regeneration, and improved life-chances in the area.
Securing long-term further education provision at the De Brome Building also strengthens the borough’s skills pipeline, with the former Feltham Skills and Logistics Centre accustomed to delivering vocational courses. They range from construction and car maintenance to rail track engineering, supporting young people and adult learners into employment
Join Best Start Family Hub Fun Day
 Families across Hounslow are invited to enjoy a free afternoon of fun at the third annual Best Start Summer Fun Day on Wednesday, 29 July, from 12pm-4pm at Old Isleworthians Sports Club, Isleworth.
The event will feature a range of family-friendly activities, including a bouncy castle, baby sensory play, petting zoo, music and dance sessions, multi-sports, and rock wall climbing. Designed to be inclusive, the day will also include dedicated SEND-friendly activity and quiet zones, with support available from the SEND Local Offer Team, SENDIASS and Best Start in Life teams.
A Relaxed Hour from 12pm-1pm will provide a quieter environment for those who would benefit from reduced noise levels. There is no need to sign up, simply turn up on the day. However, you can register in advance to beat the queues.
Local parks recognised as among the UK’s best
 The borough is celebrating the achievement of 20 Green Flag Awards, recognising its parks, open spaces and cemeteries as among the best in the country.
The internationally recognised Green Flag Award is a mark of quality for parks and green spaces. It recommends sites that are safe, welcoming, well managed and maintained to a high standard.
Summer of Culture for everyone

ANHAD, a festival celebrating vibrant South Asian culture, comes to Bell Square on Hounslow High Street on Saturday, 25 July. Presented by Watermans, the free event features live performances and DJs from 3pm to 10pm. No booking required.
On Monday, 27 July, Gunnersbury Park Museum will host a free relaxed space for neurodivergent children and young people aged 5-25 and those with additional needs, alongside heir families. Visitors can enjoyed a sensory-reduced environment and activities adapted for neurodivergent individuals and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Sign up here.

New Healthy Hounslow hub launch
Healthy Hounslow is launching its new one-stop hub at Hanworth Air Park Leisure Centre and Library on Thursday, 30 July.
Come along from 10am to 3pm to meet the friendly Healthy Hounslow team, learn about the free services available and have a look around the space.
The Hub will bring together a range of Healthy Hounslow services, including weight management and help to quit smoking, in one location.
This will make it easier for residents to access free health and wellbeing support.

Council marks Love Parks Week
 During Love Parks Week, the Council celebrates the remarkable park volunteers and Friends groups who help support and improve green spaces across the borough.
Love Parks is a national campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy. Running from Friday, 24 July to Sunday, 2 August, it is an annual celebration of parks and green spaces, the people who care for them and the huge benefits they bring to communities and the environment.
 Ahead of the London Borough of Hounslow’s Carer Awards Ceremony on Friday, 20 November 2026, residents are invited to nominate Hounslow's outstanding unpaid carers, as well as professionals who have gone above and beyond to support unpaid carers, for a Carer Award.
There are nine distinct categories, from Inspirational Carer of the Year to sector-specific awards.
The Council is partnering with Build The Way to offer traineeship opportunities to eligible young people in the borough aged 18-25 who have not attended university, helping them explore a career in architecture and design.
Young people interested can join an online session to learn about a nine-month traineeship programme on Thursday, 30 July, 12.30pm – 1.30pm.
The session will cover:
- How the programme works
- What a work placement looks like
- Tips on how to apply and insights from a previous trainee about their experience

Find out more about blood and organ donation
 NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) will be in Hounslow House Community Hub, on the ground floor of Hounslow House, from 10am to 3pm on Thursday, 30 July.
You can pop in and speak to the team to find out what blood type you are, register to become a blood donor, book an appointment for blood donation, and learn about plasma and organ donation.
It’s important to know your blood type for your own health. It’s also vital for the NHS as they need donations of all types of blood to keep stocks high and save lives through transfusions.
There will be a chance to chat with Health Outreach Team about your health. The Community Hub and Library team will also be available to talk about services in Community Hubs and Libraries.
Understanding Autism event
 Join us for Understanding Autism, an inclusive event led by autistic voices from Hounslow's neurodivergent community.
Following on from last year's successful sessions, there will be something for everyone including a Q&A, an interactive lunch and information on services.
