A Fairer Future for Hounslow: Council unveils vision for next four years
 This week Hounslow Council’s Cabinet outlined its new Corporate Plan. It will ensure every resident can thrive and feel proud to call Hounslow their home.
The strategy sets out how the Council will tackle inequality, support children and young people, invest in neighbourhoods and town centres, and create opportunities for residents at every stage of life.
Help prevent wildfires
 The persistent high temperatures mean there is a currently a high risk of wildfires in Hounslow. We can all play our part to prevent wildfires by following these rules:
- Do not light fires in the countryside or other open spaces including parks, moorland and wooded areas
- Only use barbecues in designated areas where they are permitted and never leave them unattended
- Ensure smoking materials are fully stubbed out and disposed of carefully
- Take all rubbish home with you, especially glass bottles as they can focus the sun’s rays and start a fire
If you come across a wildfire burning, please get to a safe location and call 999 immediately.
Summer on the Green
Council tenants are invited to Summer on the Green at Edensor Gardens Estate, W4 2QY on Saturday, 25 July.
From 12.30pm to 4pm, families can enjoy fun activities for all ages, including face painting and smoothie bikes.
Housing officers from the Council will also be on hand to support with housing benefits, tenancy issues and anti-social behaviour concerns.
Additionally, there will be an opportunity to go on a guided walk with senior officers from Housing Services.

Enjoy an evening of vintage horror
Head to the Musical Museum in Brentford on Saturday, 18 July for a screening of vintage horror film Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Doors open at 7.30pm and the evening will finish at 10.30pm.
The 1920 silent classic will be accompanied by live music from the museum’s mighty Wurlitzer organ.
The event will transport you to the golden age of cinema, where the thrills are silent but the terror is timeless.
 It's time to nominate Hounslow's outstanding unpaid carers, as well as professionals who have gone above and beyond to support unpaid carers, for a Carer Award.
The winners will be recognised at the Council's Carer Awards Ceremony on Friday, 20 November 2026.
There are nine distinct categories, from Inspirational Carer of the Year to sector-specific awards.

DanceWest is bringing 42 free dance events to Ravenscourt Park across seven days, starting from Saturday, 18 July.
If you're looking for a fun family activity during the school holidays, a new way to keep active or an opportunity to meet new people, book your free place now.
With Latin, contemporary or hip-hop dance, seated yoga dance and more, there really is something for everyone. No previous dance experience is needed.

Free community hub pop-ups are running weekly in the summer holidays. They will be at Cranford Community College from 2.30pm to 4pm every Thursday, starting on 23 July.
- Health and financial support services
- Surplus food including fresh fruit, veg and store-cupboard items - please bring a bag
- Community café, offering free hot and cold drinks
- Activities for children
 The Council is reviewing its policy around financial support for aids and adaptations to residential housing, including grants that help residents adapt and repair their homes to live safely and independently.
The new policy will:
- Increase some grant limits in line with rising costs
- Introduce new grants to support a wider range of needs
- Replace the existing Dementia Grant with a broader Progressive Illness Grant
- Remove fees charged to applicants
- Provide clearer guidance on how support is delivered

Meningitis B vaccine for young people
Anyone who was born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008 can now book their Meningitis B vaccination appointment online.
First dose appointments begin from Monday, 20 July. You must be registered with a GP surgery in England to be vaccinated in this way.
Anyone born on or after 21 July 2001 who is attending university or further education colleges as a residential student can also get vaccinated at a participating pharmacy from 20 July. This includes international students and those travelling abroad to study.
You do not need to be registered with a GP surgery to use this service.

Carer Café at Bristol Court
 Join an upcoming Carer Café, a welcoming space for carers with activities, advice and support, on the ground floor of Bristol Court in Feltham. It's being held from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday, 22 July.
There will be arts and crafts and wellbeing exercises available, so come along to relax and connect with other carers.
