Your adult social care journey is set to improve through self-referral
A new online referral form is enabling residents to self-serve for enquiries about Adult Social Care support.
The process is changing to be more person-centred, accessible, and efficient with a built-in filtering process that ensures the right support at the right time, from the right team.
Residents can self-refer online or by phone and will receive clear updates at each stage.
The new self-referral journey will be going live later next week so look out for news on the Council's social media channels/e-bulletins.

Let's call time on abuse
Crimestoppers has launched a national campaign tied to the World Cup, urging the public to help tackle domestic abuse by recognising the signs and sharing information anonymously.
Research has found that incidents of domestic abuse increase by 38% when England lose, rise by 26% when they win, and remain 11% higher the following day regardless of the result.
The 0800 555 111 telephone number and the link below gives people the power to speak up and pass on information about crime 100% anonymously.

Gambling support during the World Cup
With the World Cup now underway, there is help at hand if you’re worried about your gambling habits.
Late night matches increase the pressure to gamble alone. Late kick-offs, a phone in your hand and a quiet house can be a dangerous combination. If betting alone has become a habit you didn't choose, you're not the only one.
You can call GamCare’s free 24/7 confidential National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or head to their website.
Carers Cafe at Bristol Court, Feltham
Do you look after a friend, relative or neighbour? Are you even aware that you're one of the borough's 19,000+ unpaid carers?
A welcoming space awaits at Bristol Court, United Drive (TW14 9AG) on Wednesday, 24 June from 2pm-4pm, where you can meet other carers and take part in arts, crafts and wellbeing exercises.
Take some time for yourself, have a cuppa and share experiences.

Chiswick beauty parlour fined

The owner of a West London beauty parlour has been fined £2,000 after offering treatments, including tattoo removal, without the required licence.
The owner of Chiswick-based Wellness Lounge, Olga Cika, pleaded guilty to offences under Section 14(1) of the London Local Authorities Act 1991 at Uxbridge Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 9 June 2026.
The prosecution followed investigation by Hounslow Council’s Health and Safety Officers, which found the business had been advertising – and was suspected of carrying out – certain beauty treatments including laser treatments, without the legally required licence.
The Council is supporting Cancer Prevention Action Week (15-21 June), led by World Cancer Research Fund. This year it focuses on helping people make sense of the health information they see online and on social media.
With so much advice available about food, diets, supplements and cancer prevention, it can be difficult to know what to trust. The “Science Not Fiction” campaign encourages residents to focus on evidence-based information and small, realistic lifestyle habits that can support long-term health and wellbeing.
Research shows that around four in 10 cancer cases in the UK could be prevented through healthier lifestyles, including maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, eating a balanced diet and avoiding smoking.
Throughout the week, residents will be encouraged to access trusted health information and practical support to help them make informed choices for themselves and their families.
