Shared Lives in the house
Shared Lives Hounslow is part of an established nationwide programme that is transforming lives as an alternative to supported living or residential care.
The scheme matches adults requiring support with approved paid carers in the local community. This approach provides a safe family environment that can build long lasting connections and richer communities.
Find out more face to face next week, when Andy (pictured) and other members of Hounslow's Shared Lives team will be in Hounslow House on Tuesday, 16 and Thursday, 18 June from 10am until 3.30pm.
There is also a Webinar on Shared Lives on Thursday, 18 June from 2pm to 3pm - “Shout about Shared Lives”. Sign up here: Webinar Registration - Zoom
Gambling support during the World Cup
With the World Cup now underway, there is help at hand if you’re worried about your gambling habits.
Late night matches increase the pressure to gamble alone. Late kick-offs, a phone in your hand and a quiet house can be a dangerous combination. If betting alone has become a habit you didn't choose, you're not the only one.
You can call GamCare’s free 24/7 confidential National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or head to their website.
The Fab Four return to Isleworth
Tomorrow, Saturday, 13 June, the screening at Thornbury Park will feature 'A Hard Day’s Night', with great entertainment and a lot of Beatles themed fun, including scenes from the movie filmed at the park.
Local food vendors and entertainment will start at 6pm, organised by the Friends of Thornbury Park. The film will start at 7.30pm.
Please share with your ward residents.
Find the right support for your child or young person with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
It doesn't have to be an overwhelming prospect, as in addition to our Local Offer website you can also come and talk to us in person at our monthly SEND drop-in sessions where you can speak to a professional face-to-face for advice and support.
- Tuesday 16 June, 3pm to 5pm, Heston Community Hub & Library (TW5 OLW)
- Tuesday 7 July, 10am to 12pm, Meadowbank Community Hub & Library (TW5 9QX)
- Wednesday 26 August, 12:30pm to 2:30pm, Brentford Family Hub (TW8 OBJ)
These sessions have team members from: The Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) team - Therapies - School travel assistance and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS).

Dancing Books for Sixty Somethings
Come to a free, creative movement programme for adults aged 60+ in one of our community hub and libraries. These welcoming sessions are delivered by Dance West and combine gentle movement, conversation and creativity to bring books and language to life.
No dance experience is needed, and activities can be adapted for different abilities and mobility levels, including seated participation. Whether you enjoy reading, meeting new people, being creative, or simply trying something new, Dancing Books offers a relaxed and supportive space to connect, move and explore.
Supporting Drowning Prevention Week
Drowning Prevention Week (13 to 20 June) is just before the summer holidays, when we're all outdoors more and need these skills and knowledge most.
Visit the Royal Life Saving Society UK website via the button below to access free water safety resources for children, parents, carers and educators and help create a safer summer for everyone
Children missing education
Are you concerned about a child who may be missing education?
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility and the cost of not identifying that a child is missing education or notifying the appropriate professionals and responding quickly can be very high.
All children, regardless of their circumstances, are entitled to an efficient, full-time education. This should be suitable to their age, ability, aptitude, and any special educational needs they may have.
Summer on the green returns
Hounslow Council Tenants are invited to join Summer on the Green, a series of events where you’ll have the opportunity to speak to the Council’s housing team, offer insight and ask questions about your estate.
Come along to get support with welfare, benefits, tenancy issues, and anti-social behaviour concerns, as well as enjoying fun activities for all ages like face painting and smoothie bikes.
The first event is taking place on Saturday, 27 June from 12:30pm-4pm at Haverfields Estate, Mission Hall, TW8 OSD.
No need to sign up, just arrive on the day
The Council is supporting Cancer Prevention Action Week (15-21 June), led by World Cancer Research Fund. This year it focuses on helping people make sense of the health information they see online and on social media.
With so much advice available about food, diets, supplements and cancer prevention, it can be difficult to know what to trust. The “Science Not Fiction” campaign encourages residents to focus on evidence-based information and small, realistic lifestyle habits that can support long-term health and wellbeing.
Research shows that around four in 10 cancer cases in the UK could be prevented through healthier lifestyles, including maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, eating a balanced diet and avoiding smoking.
Throughout the week, residents will be encouraged to access trusted health information and practical support to help them make informed choices for themselves and their families.
