Hounslow Council announces new Cabinet and Mayor
 Councillor Shantanu Rajawat was re-appointed Leader of Hounslow Council at the Council’s Annual General Meeting this week, and has appointed new members to the Cabinet, the Local Authority’s main decision-making body.
Councillor Tom Bruce remains in post as Deputy Leader and is Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development. Read more here.
Hounslow Council has appointed Councillor Ranjit Gill as Mayor of Hounslow for the civic year 2026–27. Councillor Gill will be supported in this role by Councillor Sahibaa Hussain, who will serve as Deputy Mayor. Read more here.
Enjoy our Summer of Culture
 There are plenty of events planned for Hounslow's upcoming Summer of Culture including...
- A free outdoor exhibition at Osterley Park to see vibrant portrait photographs of London’s diverse everyday cyclists, by photographer and cyclist Becky Mursell. In Osterley Park, 9am to 5pm, until Monday, 6 July.
- The Redlees Open Studios event in the Victorian stables in Redlees Park (pictured). Over 20 artists will be at work in their studios and you can chat to them and learn about their craft.
- A free open mic night on Thursday, 4 June, and monthly thereafter. Why not drop into Ballucci Coffee and Cocktail Bar in Hounslow for a night of live performance hosted by local musicians, Compound Radius?
Become a member of Youth Parliament
 Young people aged 14–18 in Hounslow are invited to apply to become a Member of the UK Youth Parliament (MYP). This is your opportunity to represent Hounslow on a national stage, campaign on issues that matter, and even debate in the House of Commons.
Successful applicants will need to join the Youth Council for the duration of the appointment, and campaign ahead of elections taking place in July.
If you’re passionate about creating change and representing your peers, don’t miss out.

Building carer-friendly communities across Hounslow
 Hounslow has around 19,000 unpaid carers supporting loved ones, friends, or neighbours. Carers Week, from 8-14 June, is a chance to celebrate these selfless individuals and the people they care for with daily events offering respite, the chance to learn something new and the opportunity to meet fellow carers.
Our friends at Lampton Leisure are also offering unpaid carers a FREE 3-day pass to use at any of their sites in Hounslow.
Meanwhile, attendees can receive 100 BetterPoints for coming along to Carers Week events. These can be exchanged for high street and Amazon vouchers. Anyone can download the app for free.
All professionals, unpaid carers and anyone interested in learning about support for unpaid carers are welcome to attend Carers Week Events.
Public Realm Design Guide recognised for London Awards
Hounslow Council has been shortlisted for the 2026 RTPI London Awards for Planning Excellence.
Our Public Realm Design Guide has been recognised in the regional category for Excellence in Plan Making.
Developed through extensive engagement and co-designed with Hounslow’s diverse communities, the guide sets out ambitious principles to help create more inclusive, vibrant and climate-resilient public spaces across the borough.
The guide has also been submitted for the national Excellence in Digital Planning category, with further shortlist announcements due later this summer.

 Hounslow Council was recently awarded a 10-year milestone award for Project SEARCH delivery at the DFN Project SEARCH conference in Birmingham.
The award brief was for “incredible sites that have reached their 10th anniversary this year (completed during 24/25 academic year) and have in that decade supported hundreds of young people on their employment journey. They stand as a beacon of best practice delivering sustainable outcomes”.

Now open: Thriving Communities Fund, Small Grant Round 1
Round 1 of the Thriving Communities Fund (TCF) Small Grants programme is now open.
These grants are designed to support small, local projects that make a big difference to residents across Hounslow.
We’re looking for projects that:
- Improve physical and mental wellbeing
- Reduce social isolation and loneliness
- Build community connection and cohesion
We particularly encourage applications from projects taking place in our Equality Opportunity Areas, and those testing new ideas or strengthening community organisations.
Funding available:
- Up to £200 for one-off events
- Up to £1,500 for activities delivered over several months

Volunteers' Week
 To mark Volunteers' Week, Chiswick House & Gardens is hosting an early-morning volunteering session on Tuesday, 2 June from 7.30am - 8.30am, tailored for busy people, offering you a chance to reconnect with nature and find a sense of calm.
Come along for a relaxed hour of light gardening before work – no regular commitment needed, enjoy some fresh air, birdsong, and a chance to reset before the day begins. Tasks may include weeding, planting, and general garden care, suitable for all abilities.
Hounslow psychologist nominated for national award
 Dr Emilia Misheva, the Senior Specialist Psychologist for Cognition and Learning at Hounslow Council, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 'Outstanding Contribution' category of the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards in Birmingham on Friday, 19 June.
This is for her long-term contribution to the lives of people with a learning disability and/or autism.
Anti-social behaviour awareness event

Council tenants are invited to a community event focused on addressing anti-social behaviour and improving safety and wellbeing within one of our housing estates.
This event, taking place at The Alf Chandler Centre (TW3 3QX), on Saturday, 6 June from 12:30pm-3pm, will bring together key services and teams to engage directly with residents, provide advice, and work collaboratively on practical solutions.
The purpose of the event is to create an open and supportive space where residents can raise concerns, access guidance, and connect with the relevant teams.

 Join an adult education course at Meadowbank called Cooking for a Healthy Microbiome to learn how to cook healthy meals that improve your gut health.
The five-week evening course starts on Monday, 1 June and teaches you how to prepare affordable, microbiome-friendly recipes.
