Hounslow's longest serving foster carers
Hounslow’s fostering community is marking Foster Care Fortnight - which begins on Monday, 11 May - by celebrating the borough’s longest serving active carers.
The experiences of Dean and Nora will be shared in a series of videos where they recount memories of a caring career than spans five decades.
The couple began fostering for Hounslow in the 1980s and estimate they have looked after over 90 young people. They are both passionate about keeping cared for children in the borough through local authority foster care.

World Cup 2026: licensing guidance
If you’re a premises licence holder planning to screen matches for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, remember that some fixtures may fall outside your usual licensed hours.
Now’s the time to:
- Review your premises licence and check whether your existing licensed hours cover the scheduled kick‑off times
- Consider a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) if not already covered by your existing licence, submitting a TEN can allow you to legally extend your hours for specific events, including late‑night matches
Planning ahead will ensure your venue can show the matches smoothly, safely, and legally.
