 10 March 2026
Tomorrow (Wednesday, 11 March) is National No Smoking Day. It's the perfect time to check out the Council's Swap to Stop initiative.
It offers adult smokers a free vape starter kit and a fully guided six‑week quitting pathway, including top‑up vouchers and a progress check‑in.
This harm‑reduction approach helps smokers switch from cigarettes, which contain harmful tar and toxic chemicals, to vaping - a significantly less harmful alternative.
Families in Hounslow are invited to a free Healthier Together community event at Logic Studio School in Feltham from 2.30pm to 5pm on Friday, 13 March.
The event, supported by the NHS, Hounslow Council and local partners, is designed for families with children aged 0-18 and expectant parents.
It will offer practical advice, demonstrations, and fun activities to help everyone feel more confident about their family’s health and wellbeing. Just turn up on the day.

Did you know unused medicine costs the NHS £300 million per year? We can all do our bit to reduce this by only ordering what we need.
The biggest waste comes from repeat prescriptions, with people ordering more than they require and it going unused. So before ordering more medicine, please check carefully what you have left.
Stockpiling medicine doesn't work as many medications go out of date quickly and won't be effective when you need them.
Do you run a community garden and want to kick start the spring growing season with a special event?
Capital Growth’s Good to Grow Week, London’s biggest food growing festival, runs from 18–26 April. It's a great way to attract volunteers and bring your community together while promoting the health benefits of home growing and volunteering.
You can host a volunteer session, an open day or a bug hunt in your community growing space. Just register your event on the Capital Growth website.
The Brentford FC Community Sports Trust is hosting a course called Comedy for Thought to help people with their mental health.

Supported by Dr Maria Kempinska MBE, founder of Jongleurs Comedy Clubs, the course focuses on personal empowerment, listening skills, performance techniques, and finding your unique comedic voice.

A new mental health crisis support service called Hounslow Safe Space will open on Wednesday, 1 April. It will be available for anyone 18 and over who lives in Hounslow. It will be based at the BridgeLink Centre in Isleworth and will be open seven days a week from 2pm to 10pm, including bank holidays.
The service provides a safe, calm, and welcoming space where individuals can receive immediate support without needing to attend A&E. The aim is to reduce distress, help people feel heard, and support them to regain stability in the moment.
Residents can attend the safe space without an appointment or referral, although you can make a referral for someone if you wish. Please contact Hestia Area Manager Catherine Fallon for more information.
Finding the right support for your child or young person with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) doesn't have to be an overwhelming prospect.
In addition to the Local Offer website, you can also come and talk to professionals in person at monthly SEND drop-in sessions for advice, guidance, and support.
