People in West London experiencing a mental health emergency will now receive specialist care instead of waiting in A&E. This is thanks to the opening of a new mental health crisis assessment service, run by West London NHS Trust, at West Middlesex Hospital.
Lakeside Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS) will act as an A&E front door for people needing urgent mental health treatment and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The service is open to anyone 18 and over who attends an A&E in Hounslow for mental health reasons and does not have an urgent physical health need.

January can feel heavy, so BetterPoints' Fresh Air Fix is here to help by motivating you to get outside.
Every outdoor activity you record - whether it’s a walk, wheel, run or cycle - earns you a chance to win BetterPoints throughout the month. These can be exchanged for shopping vouchers or donated to charity.
Any time you step outside and record an outdoor activity, you’ll earn a BetterTicket for a daily draw. Every day, 20 people will win 1,000 BetterPoints.
You'll also get a ticket into a special end-of-month draw. Two winners will each receive 25,000 BetterPoints.

A new podcast called Breaking the Stigma sees people with lived experience discussing addiction.
It focuses on drug and alcohol addiction, along with the stigma and shame that people can feel. This is particularly pertinent at this time of year when addiction triggers and long nights can bring extra pressure.
The aim is to encourage more people to talk about addiction, challenge their own beliefs and the beliefs of others, and ultimately get more people to seek help.
