All Hounslow Libraries Become Community Hubs
We’ve transformed all 11 of our libraries into community hubs, so people across the borough can now visit their local library to access a range of support, close to home.
Hounslow’s community hubs and libraries are also great places to take up an activity, make new friends or learn new skills. During the winter, people can also stay out of the cold in their local library, reading, using a computer, or making friends at one of many activities.
New Horizons for Feltham learners
Starting in February 2026, the University of West London (UWL) will offer two free short courses: Introduction to Business and Introduction to Podcasting. The courses are designed to give adult learners a taste of university-level study and help them build new skills for work and personal development.
Delivered through weekly three-hour evening sessions at Feltham Community Hub and Library over 14 weeks, the programmes are aimed at local residents looking to upskill, re-skill or explore a new direction. Successful completion will provide learners with a 20-credit qualification that can be used towards future study.
These micro-credential courses form part of UWL’s long-term commitment to lifelong learning in partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow, supporting skills development, employability, and local economic growth.
Who is your local unsung hero?
Hounslow Council wants to celebrate our often unsung heroes who make life better on our housing estates and around Council homes. This could be anyone who supports neighbours, helps improve communal spaces or contributes to their local community in meaningful ways.
Who will you nominate as your local unsung hero?

Protect yourself and others from flu
Flu cases are currently extremely high and local hospitals are very busy as a result.
If you have symptoms of flu: coughing, sneezing or fever, help stop the spread. Stay home if you can and wear a mask around other people.
Look after yourself, rest, keep warm and take paracetamol or ibuprofen to lower your temperature and treat aches and pains. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. If you need medical help or advice use NHS 111 online or phone from home.
You can also still get a free flu vaccination on the NHS if you are eligible. You can get the free vaccine if you are:
- Over 65
- School age child
- Child aged 2-3 years old
- Someone with a long-term health condition
- Pregnant
Youth spoke we listened
The Youth Offer Engagement Report is now live. We are encouraging young people and youth sector professionals who work in the borough to head over to the Let’s Talk platform and read the report.
This feedback is being used to ensure Hounslow’s Youth Offer reflects what young people want and need. This includes different Council teams and partner organisations working together to coordinate opportunities for young people and refreshing the webpages to make information for children and young people easier to find and more accessible.
Residents and professionals can still feedback into the discussion area of the lets talk platform and leave suggestions, so if you have any please click the button below and have your say.
Find out more about fostering
Our fostering team have been out and about across the borough lately, including the mosque in Wellington Road South last Friday (pictured), talking to residents about becoming a foster carer in Hounslow and earning up to £1,130 per fortnight (depending on needs).
The last stop before Christmas is at Hanworth Leisure Centre from 10am until 4pm tomorrow. (Saturday, 13 December)

Another award winning care home in Hounslow
Congratulations to Kathleen Laing and the rest of the management team at Maryville Nursing Home in Brentford, who have won the Management Team of the Year at last week’s Caring UK 2025 awards.
Kathleen, pictured fourth from right, praised the excellent working relationship between Hounslow Council and the home and, of course, her hard working colleagues at the home in The Butts.
