Hounslow welcomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester to mark 100 years of the Golden Mile
Hounslow Council was honoured to welcome The Duke of Gloucester on Thursday, 27 November for a special visit marking 100 years of the Golden Mile. This iconic stretch of the Great West Road was first opened by King George V in 1925.
The visit, hosted at the landmark JCDecaux building in Brentford, brought together leaders from business, development, education, culture and the community to celebrate a century of innovation, industry and design excellence and to look ahead to the next 100 years of opportunity.
Crackdown on illegal e-bikes
In targeted operations last week, seven illegal e-bikes and three e-scooters were seized during coordinated action against the growing problem of illegal and unsafe e-bikes.
The joint enforcement operation with the Metropolitan Police included the capture of one e-bike capable of reaching over 60mph – more than four times the UK legal limit for electric-assisted pedal cycles. Hounslow Council is one of the first London boroughs to take this kind of action.

Find out more about fostering
Come and meet our fostering recruitment team at the Hounslow Jamia Masjid Centre on Wellington Road South (TW4 5HU) on Friday, 5 December from 12.30pm to 2.30pm to find out more about becoming a foster carer in Hounslow.
Hounslow Council’s new fostering campaign is seeking to encourage more people to consider becoming foster carers – highlighting how the role not only transforms the lives of children and young people but also enriches the lives of those who foster.
Come and find out how your existing skills, experiences and values can make you an ideal carer. In addition to a generous allowance of up to £1,696 per fortnight (subject to a child’s need) we offer a full package of benefits and the chance to change a child or young person’s life.
All are welcome.

It will include key advice on the new benefit changes coming into effect and the potential impact on disabled residents who live in our borough.
