Look after yourself and others as cold weather bites
Temperatures in Hounslow will drop below freezing over the weekend and the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is in place. Support and shelter is available for anyone sleeping rough between now and Monday morning. If you see someone rough sleeping, let the Streetlink team know so they can help them.
During this cold weather and with the cost of energy increasing, the Council’s warm spaces are also opening up to give people shelter. They’re putting on free activities for you and your family.
This year, libraries and leisure centres are joining with voluntary, community and faith spaces across Hounslow. Why not find an activity on the Council website and pop in?

- Smarter technology, including AI and SMART sensors
- Improvements to CCTV and parking enforcement

Pawsome night for Hounslow at prestigious animal awards
The Council’s Animal Welfare Team picked up five accolades last week at the RSPCA’s annual PawPrints Awards – the UK’s leading recognition for animal welfare in the pubic sector.

- Stray Dog Services – Gold Plus
- Animal Activities Licensing – Gold Plus
- Housing – Gold Plus
- Special Recognition – Highly Commended for Animal Welfare Officer Georgia O’Brien

The fostering recruitment team is out and about in the coming months and will be at the Hounslow Jamia Masjid Centre on Wellington Road South (TW4 5HU) on Friday, 5 December from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. All are welcome.
This is part of the Council’s bold new fostering campaign encouraging more people to become foster carers. It highlights how the role not only transforms the lives of children and young people, but also enriches the lives of those who foster.
The new campaign, Grow in New Ways, challenges outdated perceptions of fostering by showing how people’s existing skills, experiences and values can make them ideal carers.
