After smoking for 50 years, Karen from Hounslow decided it was finally time to quit, but she knew she couldn’t do it alone. So she turned to Healthy Hounslow and the BetterPoints app, which made all the difference.
She said: “I would not have been able to give up smoking without the support of the Healthy Hounslow Stop Smoking Service. It was convenient, personal, and exactly what I needed. The BetterPoints app really kept me going, seeing my progress mapped out and earning rewards for staying smoke-free gave me an extra boost. I also love that there are other activities available through the app to keep me engaged."
Do you want some help to quit like Karen, or know someone who does? Sign up to the Healthy Hounslow stop smoking support service by visiting their website. And take a look at a short video about the service here.
Last Friday’s neurodiversity at work event, run by Hounslow’s Community Provisions team, included a fascinating panel discussion on lived experience.
Employers present included the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS), Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Hill Group, a local construction company.
The day incorporated neuro-inclusive event design with dimmed lighting and a quiet room.
All Hounslow residents are invited to celebrate 10 years of women's wellbeing charity SHEWISE on Thursday, 27 November. The event will be held at the Irish Cultural Centre, Hammersmith from 2pm to 5pm.
Over the past decade, SHEWISE has empowered Hounslow women to understand what affects their health, strengthened communities, and built partnerships that have made a lasting impact.
There will be inspirational speakers, networking opportunities and a chance to reflect on a decade of inspiring women across West London.
