Tackling anti-social behaviour in Hounslow town centre
Following a public consultation that saw strong support from residents, police and community partners, a new Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) has been approved for Montague Road West Car Park near Hounslow High Street.
Anyone found breaching the order may be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice, with a maximum fine of £1,000.
The PSPO will come into force on Saturday, 1 November and will ban a range of behaviours including littering, use of legal highs, loitering and obstruction of entrances.
This is part of the Council’s wider commitment to keeping Hounslow a safe, clean and welcoming place to live, work, study and visit — as set out in the Council’s Corporate Plan and Safer Communities Strategy.

On Tuesday, 4 November, the Council will host a free session for young people aged 16 to 25 to explore employment pathways in the green sector. It will take place at Hounslow Library (TW3 3EB) from 3pm to 5pm.
As part of Green Careers Week (3-8 November), the session will feature Council teams and employers including Lampton Group, The Hill Group, Human Forest and more.
They’ll share information about training, apprenticeships and job opportunities. They will also answer questions about working in the sector.
From Monday, 27 October to Saturday, 29 November, TfL will be carrying out essential overnight road surveys on the A315 between Alexandra Road and Beech Avenue.
Work will take place on weeknights between 10pm and 5am, when traffic is lighter. Temporary traffic lights will be in place, and on some nights, side roads may need to close. Clearly signed diversion routes will be provided, and residents will always have access to their homes.
Thank you for your patience while they carry out this important work to help maintain and improve our roads.
The Council’s Trading Standards team recently seized thousands of illegal cigarettes and vapes from retailers across Hounslow, supported by tobacco detection dogs, during a series of raids.
Illegal tobacco funds organised crime, harms health and makes it easier for young people to start smoking or vaping.
If you suspect illegal tobacco or vape sales, please report them to tradingstandards@hounslow.gov.uk or by calling the HMRC Fraud Hotline on 0800 788 887
If your child or grandchild feelings poorly this winter and you’re not sure if you should send them to school or nursery, please check the Healthier Together website first to review their symptoms. It shows when to treat at home, when to call your GP, or when to visit hospital if it’s more serious.
If your child’s symptoms signpost you to call your GP Practice, there are now an additional 750 same-day GP appointments per month for children aged 0-4 years across Hounslow surgeries. This is part of a new winter initiative to give families quicker, safer care closer to home, without the need to wait in A&E.
Last week, Councillor Dunne and staff members from Hounslow Council joined London Sight Loss Councils for a guided walk through Hounslow town centre, wearing sim specs – special glasses that mimic different types of sight loss.
This gave them a first-hand insight into the daily challenges faced by residents with visual impairments.
The Council's monthly SEND surgeries are drop-in sessions where you can speak to professionals face-to-face for advice, guidance, and support.
Surgeries offer expertise on education, health and care plans (EHCPs), therapies, and independent advice from the Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS).
The final two of the year are on the following dates:
- Wednesday, 5 November at Feltham Library (TW13 4GU) from 11.30am - 1.30pm
- Friday, 12 December at Lampton Family Hub (TW3 4JG) from 10am – 12Noon
With a shift in pupil numbers across the capital impacting on schools funding, the Council has launched a consultation to inform a new School Organisation Plan, which will outline management of school places and educational planning.
