£180,000 fines issued to rogue landlords
 The Council is stepping up efforts to prosecute rogue landlords who fail to meet legal standards, reaffirming its commitment to protecting housing tenants across the borough.
Over the past six months, fines totalling more than £180,000 were issued to landlords and letting agencies for breaches of property standards, with the average fine reaching £14,000. As part of this ongoing campaign, the Council will publicly name and shame those landlords who continue to ignore legal requirements.
Free advice for SEND families
 There are three up-and-coming opportunities to get advice, guidance, and support for families with children and young people aged 0-25 who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
On Wednesday, 15 October from 10am - 12pm, the team will be at Heston Farm Community Centre, 51 Biscoe Close, Heston, TW5 0UZ. Then on Wednesday, 5 November they will visit Feltham Library from 11.30am - 1.30pm, while the final date of the year is at the Lampton Family Hub on Friday, 12 December from 10am until 12pm.
Hounslow Lights is back
 On Saturday, 25 October, the event is back at Lampton Park (TW3 4DJ), celebrating this time of year with you - so feel free to dress up for Diwali or Halloween and get into the spirit of the season.
Between 4pm and 9pm, join us for a mega-funfair, delicious food, stalls, arts and crafts and a spectacular fireworks display set to music.
New Independence Hub for young people with additional needs

West Thames College, in a partnership with the Council, launched its brand-new Independence Hub at its Isleworth campus.
The Independence Hub has been designed to support young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), offering a tailored, person-centred approach that empowers students to achieve greater independence and prepares them for adulthood.
The vision of the Hub is to create meaningful, engaging and highly individualised learning experiences that celebrate each student’s unique abilities.
Council wins big at RSPCA awards
The Council’s Animal Welfare Team has achieved outstanding national recognition at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) Pawprint Awards, becoming the only local authority in England to receive Platinum accreditation for kennelling standards.
Animal Welfare Officer Georgia O’Brien (pictured) received special commendation for her exceptional work supporting residents and tackling animal welfare offence - all within her first year in post.
The team also secured a new Plus Award for exceptional performance across multiple areas of animal care, including stray dog services, animal activity licensing and housing standards.

Free neurodivergent work event at Hounslow House
 The Community Provisions team are hosting a marketplace event for Hounslow's neurodiverse community.
The session will feature a range of special guests and partners and will seek to provide inspiration and information from lived experience. Aimed at residents with autism, ADHD, dyslexia or any other kind of neurodivergence it aims to pass on the power to realise your strengths, dispel myths and thrive in the workplace.

Shape the future of schools in Hounslow
 With a shift in pupil numbers across the capital impacting on schools funding, the Council has launched a consultation seeking feedback to inform a new School Organisation Plan, which will outline management of school places and educational planning.
