Hounslow Council has joined the Good Food Retail network to create a healthier food environment for residents, with a particular focus on school children and those who rely on local convenience stores for their daily shopping.
So far, nine convenience stores in Hounslow are part of the Good Food Retail network. Working with retail and local marketing experts Rice Marketing, Hounslow Council is helping shop owners increase the availability of healthier options and make them more appealing to customers.
Currently, there is an urgent need for Londoners to help fill available blood donation appointments across the capital, including over 27,000 appointments available at our city donor centres including Twickenham over the next six weeks – around 4,500 per week.
Currently, there is a particular need for more O negative and B negative donors, as well as more donors from Black heritage to help treat patients with sickle cell.
If you have one of these much-needed blood types and are able to donate, please go online at www.blood.co.uk or call 0300 123 23 23 to book an appointment.
By giving an hour of your time, you could save up to three lives.

Hounslow Council is encouraging residents to take the first step towards a smoke-free future during this year’s four-week Stoptober challenge. The best way to do this is to sign up for Healthy Hounslow’s stop smoking service.
It provides free, personalised support including one-to-one sessions, access to nicotine replacement therapies or a free nicotine vape, and advice on how to stay smoke-free for good.
Healthy Hounslow is also teaming up with health app BetterPoints to help incentivise people to quit smoking this Stoptober. Hounslow residents can earn BetterPoints to the equivalent of £50 if they quit smoking with Healthy Hounslow.
