Trainee Nursery Apprentice

Do you want to be part of a child’s early education and help to shape their future?  Once Upon a Time Day Nurseries is recruiting for a Trainee Nursery Apprentice based in Feltham.  As an apprentice, you'll work in shifts between 7.30am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, while attending college to study for a childcare qualification at Level 2 or equivalent to completed within 12 months.  Residents currently unemployed can register with Work Hounslow to apply. Employment advisors can support your application and help you prepare for job interviews. The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 30 September.

Volunteer opportunity

Become a Nature Buddy volunteer and help individuals at risk of isolation achieve their health goals and social recovery through gentle walks and outdoor activities. 

Let's Go Outside and Learn CIC is seeking volunteers who are understanding, patient and empathetic. Full training will be provided. 

In addition, Work Hounslow is delivering fortnightly online sessions on Mondays to help unemployed residents discover the benefits of volunteering how it can lead to valuable work experience. Sign up for the next session on Monday, 29 September.

Start a career at an NHS GP Surgery

Interested in a career in healthcare?

Healthy in Your Own Skin, a local General Practitioner (GP), will host a three-day online work experience sessions for residents.

The sessions will take place between Tuesday, 28 October and Thursday, 30 October, 10am - 12pm. Attendees must attend all the sessions. 

You'll have the opportunity to speak with both clinical and non-clinical staff and learn about the day-to-day responsibilities of working in a NHS GP surgery. 

Get ready to work at Heathrow

Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy will host the following sessions in September and October. 

• Employability workshop on Monday, 29 September and Wednesdays, 1, 15 and 29 October, 9.30am - 12.30pm
• Essential skills workshop on Wednesdays, 8 and 22 October, 9.30am - 1pm

These workshops can help residents improve their CVs, prepare for job interviews with employers at Heathrow and learn more about the airport and job opportunities available. 

Career goals drop-in sessions

Residents who are unemployed and looking for work can discuss their career goals with Work Hounslow's employment advisors by attending drop-in sessions held at different locations in the borough. You don't need to book an appointment, just turn up. The dates are: 

Tuesday

• Every Tuesday - Asylum seekers and refugees session, Feltham Community Hub (TW13 4GU), 1pm - 4pm

Wednesday

• 1 and 8 October - Construction drop-in at Hounslow House (TW3 3EB), 2.30pm - 4pm

Thursday

• 2 October - Hounslow House (TW3 3EB), 3pm - 5pm
• Every Thursday - Work Club for residents, refugees and asylum seekers at Heston Library (TW5 0LW), 3.15pm - 5pm

Friday

• 3 October - Brentford Community Hub (TW8 8DW), 10am - 2pm

West Middlesex University Hospital

The hospital is recruiting multiple volunteers to support NHS staff and fellow volunteers in providing a positive experience for patients. Applicants must be 16 years old and over and have the right to work in the UK. All volunteers must commit to one shift per week for a minimum of six months. 

The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 30 September. 

School Governors

Governing boards of primary, secondary and special schools in Hounslow are recruiting for volunteers to help improve outcomes for children in the community. 

Anyone aged 18 or over who is available to attend two to three meetings per school term is welcome to apply.

The closing date for applications is Monday, 6 October.
