Hands up who needs funding?

Charities and community groups across Hounslow’s voluntary sector are encouraged to apply for the Council’s Thriving Communities Funding to support their community initiative. Applications opened last month with a focus on reducing inequality across the borough. The funding can be for an existing or new project.

Noise annoys

Last week, Hounslow Council successfully prosecuted a Brentford man for breaching an abatement notice imposed after frequent noise complaints from his neighbours.

After the defendant failed to turn up to court, having continued to play excessively loud music at his home, Uxbridge Magistrate Court found him guilty in absentia of the breach, ordering him to a pay the fine and legal costs – amounting to £3588 – and seizing his audio equipment.

Persistent noise is a form of anti-social behaviour which damages residents’ quality of life. This isn’t something that will be tolerated in Hounslow, and as this case shows, repeat offenders are being made to face the music.

All the fun of the fete

Start your day in Feltham Park and Assembly Hall for the Feltham Fete, on Saturday, 2 August from 12pm to 4pm. Brought to you by our friends at Creative People & Places Hounslow, this much-loved free event promises something for everyone, including: live music, delicious food, creative activities, funfair rides and stalls.

Visitors can then make their way to Bell Square for a magical slice of street circus that the whole family will love, brought to you by Watermans.

Four talented artists will take to the square with mischievous antics, live music and a performance full of silly, surreal surprises.

No need to book, just drop by this Saturday at 2pm or 4pm and enjoy the show.

Candidates announced for Cranford by-election 

The Council has published the names of all candidates standing for election in the Cranford ward by-election on Thursday, 21 August. 

You can also head to the Council's website to find out more about registering to vote in person or by post, the ID required and types of support available for all voters to cast their vote independently and secretly.

Start your career in architecture

Young people aged 18 to 25 with a passion for urban design can apply for the Build The Way Architecture Traineeship programme. Trainees will develop technical skills and gain hands-on experience working on a project in a nine-month programme. They will be paid the London Living Wage for a 32-hour week, with an additional one day a week spent at the London School of Architecture completing an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). No previous experience in architecture is required.

Hubba Hubba!

Hounslow Council’s Family Hubs are hosting their second annual Summer Fun Day on Thursday, 7 August from 12pm to 4pm at Old Isleworthians, TW7 5ED.

The free event offers a fun-filled afternoon of family-friendly activities. These include a bouncy castle, petting zoo, baby sensory area, music, multi-sports, and rock wall climbing, alongside council services that can help support your family's health and wellbeing.

No booking is required - just turn up and enjoy the day. The event is organised by Hounslow’s Family Hubs, which offer year-round support for families with children aged 0–19 and up to 25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Further family fun in Feltham

Visit Feltham High Street this summer for a mix of free outdoor arts, theatre performances and circus skills. Whether you're a fan of the performing arts or looking for something exciting to do as a family, there's something for everyone.   Come along to the Feltham Arts Summer Programme at The Centre, Feltham, every Wednesday from 30 July to 27 August. While you’re there, you can pop into Feltham Library to take part in creative activities like making flower bouquets, pop-up shark cards and animal masks.

Help shape the vision for Hounslow’s future

The Council has recently launched Vision 2050, an ambitious new listening initiative for residents, businesses and organisations across the borough to help shape a long-term vision for Hounslow. 

Throughout the summer, the Council will host events across the borough to engage with residents of all ages and explore what life in Hounslow could be like 25 years from now. Anyone can take part by attending an event, taking part in surveys and joining the discussions in the online forums.
