Yesterday (Monday, 28 July) was World Hepatitis Day, shining a light on the illness and what people can do to prevent its spread. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, most commonly caused by a viral infection.
Hepatitis B and C can be spread through sexual contact, so using condoms and testing are good ways to avoid contracting or spreading these strains.
There are further ways you can raise awareness of hepatitis and help to keep cases down, saving lives in the process.

The responses will give them an understanding of what would help parents to look after their children’s teeth.

West London Trust and its health partners have improved the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) to make it more efficient and flexible, meaning more families will be eligible for support.
HCP offers every family support to make healthy choices from pregnancy to the first five years of a child’s life. It was previously delivered via the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) and the Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home Visiting (MECSH). Now all families will be supported via MECSH, simplifying the process while offering a more holistic package of care. There will be no disruption of care during the transition.
If you have any questions about this change and what it might mean for you, please speak to your midwife or health visitor, or contact the Health Visitor advice line on 020 8973 3490.
