Year 7 poets shine at Hounslow Poetry Slam final
Six secondary schools came together for an inspiring day of creativity, performance and teamwork at this year’s Hounslow Poetry Slam final. Guided by professional poets, Year 7 students performed original spoken word pieces in front of a live audience and a judging panel.
The event, run by the Council’s Schools Library Service, supported by remarkable professional poets and funded by Arts Council England, saw students grow in confidence and skill across a series of workshops before taking the stage. Find out which school took home the Poetry Slam Cup and hear what the judges had to say.

Warm weather can impact vulnerable groups, including older people and those with underlying health conditions. Please take care to protect yourself and others from the potential risks of extreme weather.
People sleeping rough can also suffer severe consequences during hot weather due to the lack of shelter and access to water. If you're worried about someone you see sleeping rough, please contact the Streetlink team who can offer them support.
