The Council recently published its Baby Feeding Plan for Hounslow. It offers comprehensive support to mothers in Hounslow to continue their breastfeeding journey for as long as they choose. This includes baby feeding peer support and baby feeding-friendly venues.
It also outlines the ways the Council, NHS health partners, voluntary groups and the public can play a vital role in the support offered to feeding mothers, as well as plans for the Council to work closer with them in the future.
Leaflets with more information about the the plan are available in baby feeding-friendly libraries, family hubs and leisure centres. Head down to your nearest venue to pick up a copy and familiarise yourself with the surroundings.
This week (19-24 June) is Cervical Screening Awareness Week. Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer as it's a pre-emptive test that can help to stop you developing the illness.
This week, why not check if you are eligible for a test, see if you have a cervical screening invitation letter you haven't replied to, or contact your GP if you're not sure about your next screening date?
There is also a range of organisations that have a wealth of information on cervical cancer and how to prevent it. These include Macmillan Cancer Support and The Eve Appeal.

The new service will provide information, advice, and practical support in convenient locations - either face-to-face at a local Community Hub, by email, or on a home visit.
You can meet the team to find out more at West Middlesex Hospital’s atrium this Thursday, 26 June between 10am and 3pm. You can also email the team for more information about the new service.
RM Partners wants you to tell them what would help to make the most of your GP appointments.
This includes how best to speak with your doctor if you are worried about cancer and related symptoms. Planning for this conversation before you go will help them to decide if you need any tests or investigations.
RM Partners has put together a short survey to support its work helping people to prepare for GP appointments where cancer may be involved. Completing it will help to empower people to get the support they need first time.

Music festival season is now upon us. Many people from Hounslow attend these events and some people may take recreational drugs when they're there.
While it is never safe to take drugs and there is no safe amount to take, the Council’s health partners want to share ways that people can lessen the risk of harm if they choose to.
The supply and makeup of drugs is always changing, so it's always best to test and check what is in them before you take anything. Check with the festival to see if there is a drug testing tent, or if there is another way you can get them checked.
