Community centre in Hanworth gets a makeover
Hounslow Council Parking and Transport staff, centre staff and young people who use the facility came together last week to refresh the Hanworth Centre through a day of volunteering.
The youth community centre hosts groups like Rise and Thrive, Perfectly Imperfect and The Backstreet Dojo, offering support to local families. A £1,000 grant from the Council’s Thriving Communities Fund helped fund the improvements.
Volunteers painted the main hall, studio, and office area, and ran a gardening session for young people. The project supports the Youth Skills and Education Guarantee, which helps young people build life skills and hands-on experience.
Watch a short video of the day’s highlights.
No Time To Waste is coming back – and we need your input
You may remember the No Time To Waste campaign we ran in March 2023, encouraging Hounslow residents to recycle more and waste less. Thanks to your support, we made great progress – but there is still more to do.
A recent analysis found that 40% of food waste is still ending up in general waste bins, which means many households are throwing away not just food, but money too.
That is why we are asking residents to take a very quick survey to help us target the areas that need the most attention.
No registration is required – just a few clicks and you are done.
