Free dementia-friendly events and activities
There will be a range of free dementia-friendly events and activities across Hounslow throughout Dementia Action Week (19-25 May). The week is packed with fun and informative activities to raise awareness of dementia and help those with the illness, and their carers, to relax and have fun.
The main event is Living Well With Dementia, co-hosted by the Alzheimer's Society and the Council at Syon House on Tuesday, 20 May. There will be information on the services and support available in Hounslow for anyone affected by dementia.
It will include dementia-friendly games, interactive workshops, expert talks, the launch of Hounslow’s new Dementia Directory, and much more.
Places are free but please confirm your attendance here.
Become an art detective
Follow a new arts trail called The Bell And The Orchid and discover work from artist Hannah Lim.
Pick up your map at Hounslow House Library, or use the one above, and explore Hounslow High Street to see if you can find the six tiles in local shops and two exhibitions. All these works teach you about the people and stories that make our high street unique. The project runs until Sunday, 11 May.

Lung cancer screening saves lives
Anyone in Hounslow aged between 55 and 74 who smokes, or used to smoke, can get a free lung cancer screening.
It's the best way to detect lung cancer early when it's treatable, even before any symptoms appear. The process is non-intrusive and you will only be sent for a full CT scan if you are deemed to be at higher risk.
Head to Giffords Circus
Celebrate the start of summer at Chiswick House and Gardens with the much-loved Giffords Circus from Friday, 6 June to Sunday, 22 June.
This never before seen production, set in the buoyant and sunny era of America in the 1950s, blends world class acrobatics, live music, and theatrical storytelling. It fuses traditional circus and contemporary performance to create a truly immersive experience.
Have your say on Hounslow’s new housing strategy
The Council is developing a new housing strategy for 2025-2030, and is inviting residents, businesses, and partners to share their views.
The Council has identified five priorities that are essential to address the housing needs and priorities of Hounslow communities, and is seeking feedback on these areas.
- Tackling homelessness and rough sleeping
- Safe and decent council housing
- Raising standards in the private-rented sector
- Working with partners, so that residents live healthy and independent lives
- More genuinely affordable homes
Residents who require a paper copy, large print, easy read, or require a translation can email engage@hounslow.gov.uk.
The closing date for the consultation is Wednesday, 4 June 2025.
