Help shape the future of Hounslow

Hounslow Council is inviting residents to join the Hounslow Residents Panel.

The Hounslow Residents Panel will be made up of 2,000 residents from all ages, backgrounds, and experiences to reflect the diversity of the borough. Members can choose to take part in surveys, focus groups, and discussions about council policies and services, local issues, and future plans.

The panel is run by SMSR Research Ltd on behalf of Hounslow Council. SMSR is a trusted and independent research company, specialised in public consultations and registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office. They handle all personal data securely and only use it for research and engagement purposes.

Residents can register their interest by emailing Lee from SMSR at latkinson@smsr.co.uk and a representative from SMSR will get back to them in due course.

SMSR will also be contacting residents on the phone over the next few weeks. The number they will be calling from is a number based in Hull, 01482 680401.

The recruitment for the panel will close on Monday, 2 June 2025.

Let’s Talk SEND

The next Local Offer SEND Surgery will be held on Wednesday, 23 of April 2025 at Redlees Play Centre, Worton Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 6DW, 10am – 12pm.

These sessions provide families with an informal opportunity to ask questions and receive advice and support from SEND professionals.

Primary school admissions: 88% get first choice

The figures released by the Pan London Admission Board, responsible for the coordination of school admissions across London, show an increase for first choice offers in Hounslow.

The data for Hounslow reveals:

• 88% of families were offered their first choice of school.
• 96% were offered one of their top three schools.
• 98% were offered a place at one of their six preferred schools.

Spring Stay Steady and Active event next week

To help residents aged 60 and over find an activity that can support their strength and balance, Stay Steady and Active is hosting a spring event on Thursday, 24 April, 10am - 1pm at Hanworth Leisure Centre.

This event is a fantastic way to find something that's right for your fitness level and ability. There will be a range of free activities such as strength and balance classes, E-gym sessions, swimming session and a community park walk. You can also talk to health and care professionals about fall-related support.

Visit Heston Library for informal career advice

Residents including refugees and asylum seekers are welcome to attend a work club at Heston Library (TW5 0LW) every Thursday. The session by Work Hounslow employment advisors will offer free advice and support, including setting career goals, job and opportunity searching, CV improvement and more. Living Well with Dementia event

As part of Dementia Action Week (19 - 25 May), the Alzheimer's Society and the Council are hosting an event on Tuesday, 20 May from 11am to 3pm.

There will be information on the services and support available in Hounslow for anyone affected by dementia. It will include dementia-friendly games, interactive workshops, expert talks, the launch of Hounslow’s new Dementia Directory, and much more.
