Covid-19 is serious at any time of the year, especially for those who are most vulnerable. The COVID-19 spring booster vaccine is now available for the following groups:
- Adults aged 75 and over
- Residents in a care home for older adults
- Those that have a condition that means they are immunosuppressed
It is recommended that these groups get two doses per year to protect themselves.
You can book a vaccine online or by visiting a walk-in site.
Families with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) children can access an improved support service at Hounslow SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS). The website features free and confidential guidance for parents and carers, and children and young people with SEND aged 0-25. As a statutory service, SENDIASS works independently from the local authority.
To get in touch with the team, call the helpline at 020 8583 2607 (Monday-Friday, 9am - 2pm) or email sendiass@hounslow.gov.uk.
The team (pictured) are also available at the Council's monthly SEND surgeries, with the next at Redlees Play Centre in Isleworth on Wednesday, 23 April, 10am to 12pm.
Designed by clinical psychologists, in partnership with practitioners and teenagers, a series of online courses have been created to help teenagers understand the development of their brains and how it impacts their emotions and behaviour.
Through the sessions, teenagers will learn to better manage their feelings, nurture their emotional health and recognise how their relationships and friendships might evolve during these formative years. Understanding why these changes happen can help them navigate the ups and downs of adolescence with greater confidence.
Use code LBHPARENTS to register through the link below.

This month is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Research shows that more than nine in ten people survive bowel cancer if diagnosed early.
Knowing the symptoms can help to spot the cancer at an earlier stage, when it's more likely to be treatable. Speak with your GP if you are regularly experiencing any of the symptoms.
It is also important to complete your bowel cancer screening test when offered, as it checks for signs of bowel cancer before symptoms start. Everyone aged 50-74 is automatically sent a home test kit every two years.

Follow these tips to help reduce waste:
- Check your inhaler stock before ordering more
- Request inhalers at least three days in advance when running low
- Use inhalers as directed by a healthcare professional
- Return used and unwanted inhalers
