Mockingbird network perfectly in tune
Hounslow fostering staff and foster carers
Hounslow Council today staged a celebration of the new Mockingbird family model which has been active in the borough since earlier this year.
Mockingbird is a global, award-winning initiative led by the Fostering Network in the UK.
Hounslow’s first constellation includes eight fostering households and ten children. Eithne Bhui (pictured back centre in green) is Hounslow’s Hub Carer and a skilled foster carer with fifteen years’ experience. She is responsible for bringing the families together and engendering emotional support as well as providing practical assistance in the form of sleep overs or school pick-ups.

Help us plant our first 1,000 little trees. All abilities welcome, no sign up or experience necessary and tools will be provided. Come along and meet likeminded people from your local community.
Women's Network Café event on menopause
Lampton Group is hosting a free event focusing on menopause on Tuesday, 1 April, 7pm to 8pm. It will be held at Hanworth Airpark Leisure Centre and Library and will provide an open, supportive space to get expert advice and connect with others going through the same journey.
Dr Archana Dixit from West Middlesex University Hospital will be hosting a talk along with a specialist menopause nurse. There will also be a brief talk on nutrition and information regarding healthy eating courses in Hounslow.
There is no booking required, you can just turn up on the day.
Transforming local libraries into Community Hubs
Feltham is the latest Hounslow library to host a Community Hub. It currently has hubs on Thursdays and there will soon be an additional hub at the Library on Tuesdays, from 1pm to 4-pm. This will replace the Tuesday hub at Feltham Assembly Hall.
This is part of the Council's efforts to add much-needed services, such as help with work, money, job skills, health, wellbeing, and more, to its libraries’ existing offer. This will bring support, guidance, learning and fun, closer to residents’ doorsteps.
Combating alcohol related anti-social behaviour
Cabinet Members agreed to renew the Public Space Protection Order for alcohol related anti-social behaviour after hearing that it had the backing of the public.
The renewed order, which applies to anyone behaving anti-socially while drinking alcohol in public spaces in Hounslow, was also supported by the police and the Addiction Recovery Community (ARC) charity.
The order will not apply to people drinking alcohol in public while not carrying out anti-social behaviour. It will mean that those caught breaching the order on streets, housing estates or parks could be given a fine of £100.
Moving forward with new Transport Strategy
Hounslow Council adopted its new Transport Strategy at Full Council on Tuesday, 25 March 2025, which sets out its ambitious vision for the borough’s transport network to be safe, inclusive, efficient, healthy, clean and green.
The strategy was developed with key stakeholders, including residents, schools, businesses, and other partners.
This short video shows some of the projects and programmes that the Council are planning to do, based on what the community said they wanted.
Iftar serving hits the spot
For the second year running, Corporate Parenting Services staged a special event at The Spot, Hounslow’s Looked After Children Resource Centre, in collaboration with the Al Mustafa Welfare Trust, who served Iftar for over fifty care leavers.
The charity’s Trustee/Director Shamama Lateef (centre left) and Deputy Mayor Cllr Muhammad Shakeel Akram (centre right) led a team of colleagues and volunteers in preparing a delicious menu so young people could break their fast with friends across our community.
The Al Mustafa Trust is a global charity, who conduct a number of local projects across London, including Hounslow, where it's based.
Hounslow takes next step to Green Heat Network
A proposal to warm buildings by using heat generated by water treatment processes is set to move to the next stage after it was given the go-ahead by Hounslow Council’s Cabinet. Councillors have approved a request to apply for up to £11 million of funding from the Green Heat Network Fund. If granted the money will be used to work up detailed plans and, crucially, to subsidise what would be a £53 million project that could be ready as early as 2029.
Once operational, the Hounslow Heat Network scheme would extract heat from water warmed by the treatment process at Mogden Sewage Works in Isleworth.
