Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK with 1 in 8 men getting it in their lifetime. The risk increases to 1 in 4 for black men and is also higher for men over the age of 50.
Most men with early prostate cancer may not experience any signs or symptoms, so it is important to check your risk and speak to your GP if you are at a higher risk. The earlier the cancer is detected, the easier it will be to treat.

In the UK, over 7,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. Symptoms include persistent bloating, feeling full quickly or a loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and urinary changes.
It is important to know that these could be due to other more common and less serious conditions. But if you regularly experience these symptoms and they are new to you, it's important that you contact your GP to get checked out.

Every three years Hounslow's Health and Wellbeing Board is required to produce a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) to identify gaps in current services and improvements that could be made in service provision.
A draft PNA has been produced, taking into account the responses from the survey earlier this year. A consultation on the draft document is now underway. Residents are encouraged to review this and comment on whether it reflects Hounslow's pharmaceutical needs through the link below.
Your comments will inform the final Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment, which will be published by Wednesday, 1 October 2025.
The Council Tax Support Scheme offers financial assistance to Hounslow carers, and residents on low-incomes or benefits, to help them pay their Council Tax bill.
The Council now aims to make the scheme fairer ensuring families, larger households and carers receive vital support. Under the proposed scheme, those in receipt of carers’ allowance will be entitled to the highest level of support.
The changes will come into effect on Tuesday, 1 April 2025. Residents affected by the changes will receive a letter with a new Council Tax bill in March.
