Do you know your prostate cancer risk?
This month is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Most men with early prostate cancer may not experience any signs or symptoms, so it is important to speak to your GP if you are at a higher risk. The earlier the cancer is detected, the easier it will be to treat.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK with one in eight getting it in their lifetime, and the likelihood increases to one in four for black men. The risk is also higher for men over the age of 50 and those with a family history of prostate cancer.

Council Tax Support scheme is changing
The Council’s Tax Support Scheme offers financial assistance to Hounslow residents on low-incomes or benefits, to help them pay their Council Tax Bill. The Council aims to make the new scheme fairer; ensuring families, larger households and carers receive vital support. The changes will also help address the Council’s current £30 million funding shortfall. The changes mean:
- Some residents who previously did not have to pay Council Tax may now have to start paying
- The discount towards your Council Tax Bill may increase or decrease

New Chiswick Health Centre
After two years of construction, the new Chiswick Health Centre on Fisher’s Lane is set to receive its first patients on Monday, 31 March.
The purpose-built modern health facility will house three local GP practices, West London NHS Trust community services and is the base for Chiswick's Primary Care Network.
The new centre will provide a broader range of GP services, including community and mental health options. It will also host a range of local activities to support health and wellbeing.
The facility also includes the provision of 55 affordable homes for NHS key workers. Local NHS staff can register interest for this by emailing CHCDevelopment@hounslow.gov.uk, where more information will be provided soon.
Come to a community event near you
Meet new people, enjoy free food and find a new project to support close to home at the Council's Area Forums. Together with local people and groups, you can help to make a difference.
At this spring’s round the Council is inviting people to contribute to the next Hounslow Health and Wellbeing strategy. You can also talk to local councillors, council staff and people from local organisations about anything affecting you or your neighbourhood.
Everyone in Hounslow has a local Area Forum event, because there are seven across the borough. Find yours and come along - it might even be next week.
