Family Services Directory Termly Update - PVI's and Childminders
A gentle reminder for all settings that Section 12 of the Childcare Act 2006 requires local authorities to work with settings to update information on childcare provision at a minimum termly on 1 January, 1 April and 1 September.
The guidance specifies that information about Ofsted registered childcare should include, but not be limited to:
the contact and location details,
type of childcare provided,
Ofsted rating,
whether the provider offers free early years provision,
the cost of the childcare,
the time and duration of the childcare provided,
the number and ages of children to whom childcare is provided.
the suitability of the childcare for disabled children (Local Offer)
You will get reminders sent to you from Family Information Service to do this, but you do not have to wait for this. You can check your information at anytime and log in to make amendments.
To make changes: either log in to your online account (the same one you use for your funding claims) or email us at fis@hounslow.gov.uk
Government Consultation Response
To support early years settings to recruit and retain staff and meet this increased demand, from 3 March 2025 eligible educators will be able to access an experience-based route to working in the Staff:Child ratios at level 3.
This new route recognises the significant contribution that skilled and experienced staff can make to the education and care of young children. This is an opportunity for educators without currently approved qualifications to develop their careers and for providers to maximise the potential of their talented staff in a way that works best for the children in their care. The DfE have now published their consultation response to the Experienced based route for Early Years Practitioners. You can access this by clicking here.
This new, graduate-level qualification will give everyone from school leavers and junior staff to senior leaders the opportunity to easily move into a specialist career in the Early Years sector.
