Join Apprenticeships Marketplace job fair

On Thursday, 13 February, residents of all ages seeking apprenticeships, training or upskilling opportunities can attend the Apprenticeships Marketplace job fair event for live opportunities.

As part of the National Apprenticeship Week (10-16 February) celebration, the event will take place on the sixth floor of Hounslow House, between 10am and 3pm. Up to 20 national and local employers will be in attendance, including the National Physical Laboratory, London Fire Brigade, Marriott, Heathrow Animal Reception Centre, training and education providers and more. 

Green skills courses

Bike mechanic course

The programme, which is fully funded by the Council and delivered by Bikeworks is suitable for residents aged 16 to 25, and women of all ages living in Hounslow who are interested in a cycling career and want to take the next step by training to be a cycle mechanic. 

Attendees can get:

• Hands-on training
• City and Guilds Level 2 qualification
• Toolkit to kick-start career on successful completion of the course

Green skills bootcamp

Funded through the Mayor of London’s Skills Bootcamp for Londoners programme, this is a free 4-week training course for people who are currently not working and looking for entry level roles, such as a Grounds Maintenance Operative.

Work club at Heston Library

Work Hounslow will be hosting a work club at Heston Library (TW5 0LW), every Thursday, starting on 6 February. All residents including refugees and asylum seekers are welcome to attend. The session will offer free advice and support tailored to individual career goals, job and opportunity searching, CV improvement and more. Language interpretation support will also be available for non-English speaking attendees.

Employability support for construction

Come to a free Construction Jobs Roadshow and talk to experts from national construction company, Wates, at Community Hubs across Hounslow. 

Get help with your CV and advice about interviews, career pathways in construction, apprenticeships and more.

Come to one of the following sessions, for a friendly, informal chat: 

• Monday, 10 February - Claypond Community Centre, 11.30am -1.30pm
• Wednesday, 12 February -  Beaver's Children Centre and Library, 12pm - 2pm
• Tuesday, 18 February - Feltham Assembly Hall, 12pm - 2pm
• Monday, 3 March - Cranford Library Community Room, 12pm - 2pm

Work Hounslow employment advisors will offer career advice at the 18 February and 3 March sessions. 

Career goals drop-in sessions

Residents can start conversations about their career goals with Work Hounslow's employment advisors by joining drop-in sessions across the borough for free information, advice and guidance. No booking is required. Upcoming dates:

• 4 February - Meadowbank Adult and Community Education Centre (TW5 9QX), 10am - 11am; Feltham Community Hub (TW14 9DN), 2pm - 5pm
• Asylum and refugee session at Feltham Community Hub (TW14 9DN), every Tuesday, 2pm - 5 pm (except 11 February) 

Wednesday

• 5 and 12 February - Construction drop-in at Hounslow House (TW3 3EB), 2.30pm - 4pm

Heathrow community drop-in

On Monday, 3 February, Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy will host a free community drop-in at the Academy (TW6 2AP), from 1.30pm to 5pm. 

Jobseekers can drop in at any time for a one-to-one information, advice and guidance session on a range of jobs available at the airport, including retail, hospitality, ground handling, passenger services and more. 

No registration required.
