Drinking a little means risking a lot
As part of the national THINK! Drink Drive campaign, the Council is running the ‘A mate doesn’t let a mate drink drive’ campaign throughout December.
The Christmas and New Year period is a time when friends and family get together. The Drink Drive campaign is to remind drivers to be responsible and that even a couple of drinks before driving could harm others.
Do the right thing. Don’t drink and drive this Christmas.
Christmas and New Year bin collections
The revised bin collection schedule comes into effect on Saturday, 21 December and normal service will resume on Monday, 6 January 2025.
Both the Garden Waste and Bulky Waste Collection service will be suspended for two weeks over this period to assist with the additional workload.
Space Waye will also be closed on Wednesday, 25 December and Thursday, 26 December, as well as Wednesday, 1 January 2025.
You can help the teams perform the collections as effectively as possible by preparing your rubbish correctly and recycling the correct items. Use the Waste Wizard tool to find out what you can recycle and how.
Come and join the fun at an Area Forum event
If you live in Hounslow Central or Chiswick, why not stop by your Area Forum next week? They will be on the following dates:
- Hounslow Central Area Forum, Holy Trinity Church, Hounslow High Street, Monday, 9 December.
- Chiswick Area Forum, Chiswick Town Hall, Wednesday, 11 December.
Both events run from 6.30pm.
Head down to enjoy free food, meet new people and talk to local councillors. At the Hounslow event, there will be performances from a local choir and a Ukrainian Dance Group.
Three outstanding community groups will also be talking about the great work they’re doing locally.
Last Repair Café of the year this Sunday
Do you have an item that needs repairing? Whether it’s a coffee maker, a bicycle, clothing or a computer, the specialists at Heston in the Loop Repair Café can fix them for free. The last one of the year will be at the Royal British Legion in Heston on Sunday, 8 December from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
When you repair items, you are being kinder to the planet by helping to reduce waste, lowering your carbon footprint, and encouraging sustainable consumption patterns.
To speed up your visit, you can register your repair online ahead of the event.
