Christmas Day event for Hounslow care leavers
Fifty young people age 18-25 who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone will be given a magical day to remember provided local charity Cocoon – Care After Care with the help of the community.
Care experienced guests who don’t have family to visit on Christmas Day will be treated to a delicious chef-prepared dinner in a stunning top-secret venue. Every year, everything is donated, from mince pies and crackers to wrapping skills and presents.

Holiday Activities and Food Programme bookings open
Hounslow Holiday Activities and Food programme offers a variety of free activities for eligible children and families this winter like computer coding, swimming, science, sports, crafts, cooking, ice skating, performing arts, pantomime and more. Enjoy activities with friends old and new and eat nutritious and delicious food.

SEND Surgery in Isleworth
The next SEND Surgery will be held on Wednesday, 11 December 2024 at Redlees Centre, Worton Rd, Isleworth TW7 6DW from 10am to 12pm.
These sessions provide families with an informal opportunity to ask questions and receive advice and support from SEND professionals.

Time running out to get free flu and Covid-19 vaccines
Time is running out if you want to get your free flu and Covid-19 vaccines through the NHS booking site, or in your community with the Heath Outreach Team.
The last available date you can book on the NHS booking systems for flu or Covid-19 is Friday, 20 December and slots will get booked up fast, so don’t delay if that’s your preferred option.
The last date you can meet the Health Outreach Team to get vaccinated in the heart of your community will be Thursday, 19 December. There are also catch-up clinics taking place over the next few weeks where children from Reception to Year 11 can receive their flu vaccines. Take a look at the available dates and book them in today.
Graduate Impact programme recruitment
The Council is recruiting residents to take part in Impact, a two-year programme for graduates who want to make a difference in communities while launching their management career in the public sector.
There are three opportunities available with the Council and candidates from all backgrounds and disciplines are encouraged to apply. The closing date for applications is midday on Tuesday, 7 January 2025.
4,000 new childcare places available in Hounslow
Parents and carers of primary school children in Hounslow will now have more opportunities to access 'wraparound’ childcare before and after school. Families can claim discount for these childcare fees if eligibly by using either Tax Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare.
Across Hounslow before and after school childcare places have increased to a total of 4,080 places, with more expected to become available from January 2025.
These new childcare spaces offer flexibility for working parents, providing them the opportunity to pursue full-time or part-time job opportunities.

Parking Contravention report changes
The telephone system for reporting parking contraventions to the Enforcement Team is being updated. The new system will provide improved call handling and information for callers. From Monday, 2 December 2024 the new telephone number will be 0203 634 8680.

Looking for community energy projects
Community groups in Hounslow can now apply for the third round of the Council’s £150,000 Community Energy Fund. The fund will help community groups make significant steps towards cutting carbon and saving energy and, in turn, reinvest those savings back into their essential services and community-led initiatives.
The Council’s transport team are holding an online webinar on Tuesday, 11 December 2024 from 5pm to 5:45pm to support community groups with their applications and answer any questions. Community groups can join the webinar here or email environment.strategy@hounslow.gov.uk for an invite.
Join Christmas wreath making workshops
Craft a gorgeous festive wreath and add a spark of natural charm to your home this Christmas.
To add to the festive cheer, Hogarth House is offering a ‘pay what you can’ option for all participants in its Christmas workshops.
The workshops are fully accessible and open to all experience levels.
All materials will be supplied, along with refreshments and mince pies.
