Residents aged 60 plus are invited to come and exchange a pair of old slippers for a new sturdy pair at the Stay Steady and Active Launch at Hanworth Air Park Leisure Centre on Tuesday, 22 October, 10am - 1pm.
Proper slippers can play a significant role in preventing falls, while old, worn-out ones can lead to serious injuries, resulting in hospitalisation and a loss of independence and confidence.

As part of the Council's Five Ways to Wellbeing campaign, Lampton Leisure is offering free three-day passes to access their facilities all this week.
This week’s theme in Five Ways to Wellbeing is Be Active. And what better way could there be to get active than to take advantage of this great offer and get yourself down to the gym, swimming pool, or one of Lampton Leisure’s classes at no cost to you?
All you have to do is head down to one of Lampton Leisure’s sites and mention this campaign to the receptionist to claim your three-day pass.
The Council wants to hear how you access and use pharmacy services to help make improvements in the future. Your views will help inform our Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) which will look at health needs in Hounslow, the level and accessibility of pharmacy services, and how these will be maintained and developed in the future.
The questionnaire should take no longer than five minutes to complete and the information that you provide is confidential. Please be honest with your answers so the Council can accurately assess areas where pharmacies are already fulfilling your needs well, and areas that need improvement.
BetterPoints is a free app that allows you to earn rewards for being active and improving your health and wellbeing. One person who has felt the benefits of using BetterPoints recently is Fatimah, who is the newest Move More Hero.
Fatimah says that before using the app she "never used to walk, run or go cycling at all." But using the BetterPoints app "has made me more energetic and encouraged me a lot."
She continued: "The app has helped me to lose weight. I was going through mental stress and the daily movement has helped me by calming my stress levels. Now I’m more socially active, often going out with friends and family members."
