3 September 2024
#AskAboutAsthma 2024 takes place from 9-15 September. This year’s campaign is focusing on helping children and young people with asthma to live their best lives. Good asthma control means having no symptoms, and can be achieved by following these four steps:
- get an asthma action plan in place
- understand how to use inhalers correctly
- schedule an asthma review – every year and after every attack
- consider air pollution and its impact on lung health
If you would like to learn more about asthma control, you can sign-up for this year’s one-day virtual conference on Thursday, 12 September 2024.
Join to learn about: practical steps to help children and young people live their best lives with asthma; vaping cessation in children and young people; severe asthma referral – who isn’t being referred; clinical and national updates.
A real Hounslow success story is looking for some community-minded people with skills they can share to help borough residents feel happy and healthy.
Since the beginning of 2024, the Council’s Happy and Healthy in Hounslow project has turned thousands of people onto the joys of exercise, healthy living, mindfulness, well-being and learning new creative skills.
Originally aimed at residents aged sixty plus living within the Council’s sheltered accommodation, the scheme has proved so popular that the team behind it has expanded the scope to include anyone over 18.
Now the Housing Activities team is looking for willing individuals to pass on their knowledge by volunteering to be part of the project.
