Osterley Park is hosting the second annual Middlesex Pride 2024 on Saturday, 27 July, from 12-6pm. The event is a free, fun, family friendly day celebrating the LGBT+ community.
Attendees can expect music and performances, live speakers, some great workshops and events, food and drink, and much more. Various local LGBT+ groups will be in attendance too, with stalls set up providing support and information.

To celebrate South Asian Heritage Month (18 July - 17 August), Hounslow's Bell Square will host ‘Anhad – Festival of South Asian Music’ on Saturday, 20 July, 3pm to 10pm. The day will be filled with live performances and DJs, showcasing South Asian creativity in the UK. It’s a free event for everyone.
On Saturday, 20 July, the Summer Reading Challenge will be launching in Hounslow Libraries. Run in partnership with the Reading Agency, this free challenge helps promote reading over the long holidays and has been shown to boost confidence and self-esteem.
Children can read whatever they want, in any format, and earn rewards for the books that they read and review. All children who complete the Challenge will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a Kindle Fire.

Hogarth's House to temporarily shut for maintenance
Hogarth's House in Chiswick will be closed next week from Tuesday, 23 July whilst essential maintenance is carried out by the site team.
The repairs are expected to last at least until Thursday, 1 August, but as some of the work is weather dependent, it could go on for slightly longer.

Volunteer in Parks programme to launch in Feltham
The Council's Volunteering in Parks (VIP) programme is starting soon with a launch event in Feltham Park on Saturday, 27 July, from 1-4pm.
Six sites across the borough will be hosting volunteering sessions as part of the programme: Bridge House Pond, Jersey Gardens, Lampton Park, Northcote Nature Reserve, Feltham Arenas, and Hanworth Air Park.
The programme is a great way to improve your local green spaces, stay active, and meet likeminded people.
Take precautions in the hot weather
Due to the forecasted hot weather over the coming days, Hounslow Council is urging residents to be vigilant of wildfires and stay out of open bodies of water.
Furthermore, the Council is asking residents not to use disposable barbeques in the borough's parks as they are a fire risk.

Creating stories at Chiswick Library
As part of Hounslow’s Storytelling Festival in the Summer of Culture, Casey Andrews, a storyteller, will be at Chiswick Library on Saturday, 20 July between 11am and 4pm for the library’s Summer Reading Challenge. The artist will use her typewriter to create a personalised story when you share your choice of words, memories or a book that has inspired you. It’s a free event for everyone.
Web chat support for Recycling and Rubbish
Hounslow Council is modernising to make it quicker for you to access the services you need and has launched a new web chat pilot for Recycling and Rubbish services.
This pilot which will run for 6 weeks - with real-time language translation to ensure inclusivity - will make it easier to access support about new bins, missed collections or ask other questions, with live agents to assist you without the need to leave the website.

Council Launches Parking and Kerbside Strategies
Hounslow Council will introduce new Parking and Kerbside strategies to help reduce vehicle emissions, encourage active travel and improve the quality of life for all residents.
The strategies will work to improve the way streets are used to make them safer and more accessible for everyone.
At the same time, they will support the Council’s objectives of reducing traffic congestion, encouraging greater use of green, sustainable transport options and improving air quality.
