Doctor’s orders on cycle safety
Hounslow’s handy team of community bicycle mechanics are heading for Chiswick for a fun, free session all about how to maintain your bike and keep it safe.
The Dr Bike team will host the cycle clinic outside Chiswick Town Hall, Heathfield Terrace, Chiswick on Saturday, 13 July, between 10am and 12pm.
These two-wheeled technicians can give your bike the once-over by checking the wheels, brakes, pedals and saddles. For any major adjustment they cannot do on the spot, they will advise the rider about what the best course of action is.
Joining the team on the day will be officers from the Metropolitan Police, who will be on hand to offer information on how to keep your bike safe, prevent theft and security mark it.
You don’t have to book in advance. Turn up on the day, join the queue and get your bike sorted.
Build it and they will come
A newly-developed nine-month architecture traineeship, Build The Way (BTW), is launching in London's architecture sector. Established as a trial in 2021, the programme, which starts in October, welcomes applications from young people in Hounslow over 18 and not in formal education. It aims to help under-represented groups enter the architecture profession in a more tenable and financially feasible way.
