18 June 2024
This week (17-23 June) is Cervical Screening Awareness Week. Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer as it's a pre-emptive test that can help to stop you developing the illness.
This week, why not check if you are eligible for a test, check to see if you have a cervical screening invitation letter you haven't replied to, or contact your GP if you're not sure if you're due for a screening?
There is also a range of organisations that have a wealth of information on cervical cancer and how to prevent it. These include Macmillan Cancer Support and The Eve Appeal.

As a partner of DFN Project SEARCH, the employer has supported 61 interns over the last eight years. Read stories here highlighting how positive their experience has been.

Some of you will be taking recreational drugs at these festivals, so the Council and its health partners want to share ways that you can lessen the risk of harm if you are doing so.
The supply and makeup of drugs is always changing, so it's always best to test and check what is in them before you take anything. There is a chance your drugs may be laced with nitazenes, very strong synthetic opioids that have been linked with a number of deaths in the UK recently.
Check with the festival you are planning to attend to see if there is a drug testing tent, or if there is another way you can get them checked.
