Fun family activities in half-term holidays
There are plenty of free, fun activities for families and children in half-term.
On Saturday, 25 May, why not come along to Hounslow Bell Square between 1.30pm and 4pm for an explosive dance work of ‘UNBOXED’ by Linden Dance. Drawing on Afro-fusion and contemporary movement styles, the performance is free for everyone.
Additionally, author Kate Woodward will visit Chiswick Library and there will be creative arts and crafts workshops across Hounslow libraries throughout the week. Learn Hounslow, the Council’s adult and community education provider, will host free workshops between 28 and 31 May for families and children aged five or above, including storytelling, maths, engineering, clay and pottery and many more. Booking is required.
Films on the Green
The Council's Films on Green is joining forces with Summer on the Green for its first two dates of outdoor movie screenings - Saturday, 1 June at Bear Road Recreation Ground (TW13 6RB), and Sunday, 2 June at Brabazon Road Open Space (TW5 9LD).
From 1pm - 5pm, residents can take part in activities and speak with various teams from the Council, before the official screening of a fun family film starts at 5.30pm.
Help stop battery fires
Each year, there are more than 1,200 preventable fires in the UK caused by binned hidden and loose batteries being crushed and damaged in bin lorries and at waste centres.
The vehicles' powerful compacting blade compresses the rubbish together in the back of the vehicle so that it can fit more in. If the battery gets crushed or damaged in this process, air and water can react together with the chemicals and batteries begin to spark.
To keep everyone safe, never bin batteries or electricals. Always recycle batteries separately and take them to your local drop-off point.
Mental health Access Point in Feltham
Access Point is coming to Feltham on Friday, 31 May from 12pm - 4pm at The Feltham Hub (TW13 4GU), next to Feltham Library.
A free event for all residents it will bring together local services and organisations to raise awareness of support available.
Residents can meet service providers and organisations, take part in taster sessions, listen to talks about mental health and find out more about local activities and events.
