Living Well with Dementia: free event for anyone affected by the illness

The Alzheimer's Society is hosting an event for anyone affected by dementia at Syon House on Monday, 13 May.
The event, run in partnership with the Council, will offer information, support, and inspiration for anyone affected by dementia - including family members and carers.
Guests can enjoy therapeutic nature walks, interactive workshops with dementia-friendly games, and much more.
The event will be held at Syon House's Great Conservatory from 11.30am-3pm.

Empowering black men through community dialogue and support
![Celebrating black men event May 24](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKHOUNSLOW/2024/04/9383580/5411109/black-men-event-april24_crop.jpg) Hounslow Council, in collaboration with the Ghanaian Community Forum, is staging an event for black men of all ages at Brentford’s Musical Museum from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, 18 May.
The collaboration promises to bring black men and the wider community together to openly discuss relevant topics and gain advice from professionals on key issues affecting them.
Topics covered will include mental health, bowel and prostate cancer, education, employment and business development, and domestic violence against men.
Presenter Anthony Baker will lead discussions on black male identity and multi-generational challenges. Lunch will feature authentic Afro-Caribbean food, while attendees will be entertained by live music courtesy of the Steel Pan Trust.
Small but perfectly formed grants now available
![Thriving communities grants](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKHOUNSLOW/2024/04/9383632/5411110/thriving-communities-grants_crop.jpeg) We have now opened applications for our Thriving Communities Fund Small Grants. These provide funding of up to £1,000 for projects that bring communities together and improve their health and wellbeing.
Applications are encouraged from community and voluntary sector organisations and informal groups, including residents and neighbours' groups like the Polish Klan’s women-only exercise class (pictured).
We accept applications for this fund on a rolling basis. Funding decisions are usually communicated within four weeks.
Council pays tribute to former Councillor
Hounslow Council regrets to announce the passing of former Councillor Frank Field. Mr Field was an integral part of the "first generation" of Hounslow Councillors, having been elected to the London Borough of Hounslow on 7 May, 1964.

Come down to Boston Manor Arts Market on Saturday
![BAM at Boston Manor](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKHOUNSLOW/2024/04/9330305/bam_original.jpg) On Saturday, 27 April, head down to Boston Manor Arts Market (BAM!), featuring handmade arts and crafts across 40 stalls run by creatives and artists from Hounslow and west London. There will also be free guided tours of Boston Manor House, live music and much more.
In collaboration with Fashion Meets Music, the free market will take place in Space M4, Boston Manor Park between 11am and 5pm.
Forum for residents in sheltered accommodation
![SARA sheltered accommodation](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKHOUNSLOW/2024/04/9383742/5411111/sara_crop.jpg) Hounslow’s Sheltered Accommodation Residents’ Association (SARA) will be holding its next meeting on Tuesday, 30 April. The meeting will be held at Sycamore Court, Barrack Road, Hounslow between 1pm and 3pm.
SARA is a resident-led group representing people living at all 21 of the borough’s sheltered accommodation schemes.
The organisation aims to:
- Listen to the views of sheltered residents
- Improve the delivery of housing services
- Support residents with funds and organising activities
- Build a strong community for people living in sheltered housing
- Work with the Council on housing services

Question the Cabinet at the Gtech stadium

It will be independently chaired by Cliff Crown, Chairman of Brentford FC.
Please note that residents must book a ticket to attend by 9am on Monday, 3 June through a link on the webpage. There are no drop-in spaces available for this event and anyone without a ticket will be turned away.
