23 January 2024
Cervical Cancer Prevention Week began yesterday and the NHS is urging everyone to join the fight to eliminate cervical cancer by spreading the word about the HPV vaccine.
If you want to vaccinate your child in Hounslow, call 02036911013 to book an appointment at Heston Health Centre on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2.30pm to 4.20pm.
Cervical screening is also key to avoiding cervical cancer and prevents 7 out of 10 diagnoses. If you’re 25-64 and have a cervix, you should be invited to a screening, which you are encouraged to attend. Get in touch with your GP if you think you should have received an invite but haven’t. Attending your regular cervical screenings could save your life.
For more information on cervical cancer prevention, visit the Jo’s Trust cervical cancer charity website.

Anyone who is not vaccinated can catch it and children are especially vulnerable.
The consequences of measles can be serious and sometimes fatal, so make sure you’re up to date with both doses of the MMR vaccine and ask your GP practice about catch up jabs if needed.
Anyone with symptoms is advised to stay at home and phone their GP or NHS 111 for advice rather than visiting the surgery or A&E, to prevent the illness spreading further.

But nothing could be further from the truth.
As the recent cold snap and inclement weather has shown, winter will be with us for a while longer, and that means viruses like flu and Covid-19 will continue to spread more rapidly.
You can still visit a local pharmacy to get flu or Covid-19 vaccine if you're eligible. You can also visit our Health Outreach Team (HOT) bus and get vaccinated that way, along with a full health check.
This week the HOT bus will be at Tesco Feltham, 98 High St, Feltham TW13 4EX on Friday, 26 January - from 10am to 4pm. No need to book in advance, just turn up on the day to meet our friendly team.
The Sky Clinic, a one-stop clinic to provide healthcare advice, treatment and support for men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women, will open on Friday, 26 January.
It will be located in the Heart of Hounslow clinic and will offer a confidential, all-compassing sexual health service.
The clinic will offer a range of sexual health services, including free STI screening, vaccinations, sexual health consultations, and access to HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis following sexual exposure (PEPSE).
The local community can access the Sky Clinic on Fridays between 09:00-12:30. You can make an appointment by calling the clinic on 020 8321 5718 or online. Walk-in appointments are also available and Hounslow residents will be able to discuss their sexual health care with consultants, sexual health nurses and advisors.

![Perinatal care](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKHOUNSLOW/2024/01/8822620/5197519/microsoftteams-image-11_crop.png) The West London NHS Trust is hosting a screening of a powerful collection of short films about maternal mental health on Wednesday, 31 January .
In the films, women from diverse communities across West London speak in their mother tongue about their experience of perinatal mental illness.
Maternal mental ill-health is a subject that affects countless families, but it is often still kept hidden or unacknowledged within communities. Stigma and fear of judgement can be a powerful barrier to mothers accessing help.
These films aim to shed light on the experiences and triumphs of mothers from diverse backgrounds who have worked with the West London Perinatal Mental Health Service to navigate their route to recovery.
