New calendar of support and events for unpaid carers
The Council has put together a full calendar of events and support for carers in Hounslow. It includes details of all events designed to support carers until the end of the month, plus a list of recurring events taking place throughout the year.
Carers who live in or a carer for someone in Hounslow, please take a look and see which events may be useful. Residents can also see where free vaccinations are available, which residents are eligible for if caring for a vulnerable person.
Start your career with an apprenticeship
On Wednesday, 7 February, Work Hounslow, the Council’s skills and employment team, will host an Apprenticeships Marketplace event at Hounslow House from 10.30am – 3.30pm, where residents can meet with local and national employers, including the Ministry of Defence, London Fire Brigade, Metroline, National Physical Laboratory, several local NHS Trusts and many more to learn about a range of apprenticeship opportunities.
Lubna, a young person from Hounslow, started her dream career at Cisco Systems in Feltham through the company’s degree apprenticeship programme. As part of the Youth Skills & Employment Guarantee (YSEG), the Council has been supporting young people like Lubna to build their pathways for employment.
RSVP to RSPB to aid wildlife and conservation efforts
The Royal Association for the Protection of Birds (RSBP) is urging people to take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch 2024 from Friday, 26 to Sunday, 28 January.
The survey helps to build a picture of how garden birds are faring across the nation. Residents are asked to choose an hour between 26-28 January and make note of all the birds that land in their garden during this period. Recordings can then be logged with the RSBP, either online or via post.
The data gathered provides a valuable insight into our wildlife and will help conservation efforts.

On the road with the Adult Social Care Info Shop
We’re taking social care on the road in 2024 with a special ‘pop-up’ information stand.
The Info Shop is a roving service which brings information about what services are on offer and what help is available to venues throughout the borough.

Information on offer includes everything from how to get more support if you’re finding it difficult to manage at home, what help is on offer for carers, information on health and wellbeing services and how to access education and employment opportunities.
The shop pops up at events and activities all over Hounslow throughout the year and you can also find it at its frequent home at West Middlesex Hospital.
Its next appearances will be:
