Boston Manor House reopens to public in July
Brentford’s historic Boston Manor House has been restored to its former glory following a five-year project.
Prior to its public opening, the Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr Afzaal Kiani, and the Leader of the Council, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, joined funders who have made the £6 million project possible for a preview of the Grade 1 listed property.
Marking its 400th anniversary, Boston Manor House will reopen on Friday, 7 July, with a weekend of special opening events. Free to enter all year round, the House will include a community programme of learning and public events, volunteering opportunities, exhibitions, galleries, a modern café, and the House will be available to hire as a stunning wedding venue.

It’s World Refill Day today! Hounslow Council has joined forces with councils across England and Wales to help stamp out the use of single-use plastics across the UK.
In support of City to Sea’s national Refill campaign, Hounslow has become a Refill Destination, working to connect residents to places they can eat, drink and shop without the needless packaging.
As a Refill Destination, the Council will promote sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics that will not only protect the environment, but also help residents and businesses to save money during a cost-of-living crisis, by taking advantage of reusable alternatives to disposable plastic items.
We are calling on businesses across Hounslow to join the fight against plastic pollution by becoming 'Refill Stations’. Residents who are passionate about protecting the environment and looking to cut down on weekly bills are encouraged to download the Refill app to view all participating Refill Stations across the borough.
Hounslow residents are being urged to take precautions to stay safe during the continued warm weather.
While the hot weather is a time for many to enjoy, some people can become uncomfortable due to the rise in temperature and can become unwell due to overheating.
Typical health problems caused by hot weather include dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Local A&E services are busier than usual due to health issues related to the warm weather. Waiting times to be seen are up to 11 hours. A&E is for life-threatening emergencies. Knowing where to go can get you the help you need quickly. Start with www.111.nhs.uk
Please take extra care during the warm weather. Protect yourselves and help relieve pressure from frontline health services.

Shabnam and Hamda are among thousands of refugees in the UK who bring positive contributions to the communities with their creativity and resilience.
Shabnam was forced to flee Afghanistan in 2021 when the Taliban took power.
Shabnam and her sister Meena have been attending English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses, delivered by Learn Hounslow, a provider of Adult & Community Education in Hounslow Council. Within a year, they have acquired the basic level of English language. Shabnam now works part-time as a TV presenter at the Afghanistan International TV in London and gradually builds up her network with neighbours and classmates.
Hamda arrived in the UK when she was three with her family, fleeing from the civil war in Somalia in the 1990s. As a refugee, she wants to help others develop and achieve and is now a tutor for ESOL courses and Digital Skills courses in Learn Hounslow.
