Hounslow’s health and wellbeing support service One You Hounslow is changing.
From April, the service that has helped thousands of borough residents to lead healthier, active lifestyles and make positive lifestyle choices, will get a new name, a new look and provide even more great services.
One You Hounslow was launched in 2016 as a partnership between Hounslow Council and Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust (HRCH).
In that time it has become a real Hounslow success story with people from all over the borough benefiting from fitness and activity sessions, healthy cooking and eating courses, wellbeing support and more.
During this time, One You Hounslow has helped more than 6,000 people in our borough to stop smoking.
Now the service is changing its name to Healthy Hounslow and it will provide even more opportunities for residents to get involved.
There will be a new website - healthyhounslow.co.uk and a new identity for the service.
The service is available to anyone who lives, works, studies and/or has a GP in Hounslow, via self-referral or referral by GPs and other local services.
The new website is currently under construction and will be ready soon.
In the meantime, you can check in with One You Hounslow below.
The government has announced that the Spring COVID-19 booster will be made available to the most vulnerable groups within the community.
Those groups that are eligible for the free booster are:
- Adults aged 75 years and over
- Residents in a care home for older adults
- People aged five years and over who are immunosuppressed
Eligible individuals will be offered the vaccine around six months after their previous dose. The NHS will confirm how these groups will be able to get the booster soon.
Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 and the spring booster programme provides an opportunity for those who are at the highest risk of severe illness to keep their immunity topped up.

Planned strike action by junior doctors in most NHS trusts will continue until Thursday, 16 March.
Anyone who needs urgent medical care should continue to come forward - especially if someone is seriously ill, injured or there is a risk to life.
It is likely that a high number of hospital appointments will be cancelled. If your hospital has not contacted you, please attend your appointment as planned.
GP services are not affected by industrial action but are likely to be busier than usual. Patients are asked to consider using their surgery’s online consultation form instead. This will allow your surgery to determine the best course of action and free up the phone lines.
The NHS asks patients to use services wisely during this period to help ensure that care is available for those who need it most. You should use 111 online as your first port of call for all non-urgent health needs. Only use 999 if it is a life-threatening emergency.
Hounslow resident Dillon Chuhan (pictured) is helping to raise awareness about the subject of eating disorders in men by sharing his story.
The 25-year-old developed bulimia following the first coronavirus lockdown. He went to see his GP after experiencing stomach pains and was shocked to be diagnosed with the disorder.
Throughout his treatment, he became aware of how few other men there were seeking help for the condition.
"Was this rare in men? Are men just not being diagnosed?” He asked.
Dillon decided to share his story as part of a national initiative to shine a light on the fact that men get eating disorders too.
His experience chronicles how he came to terms with his diagnosis and the benefits he felt from taking part in therapy and the recovery process.
And along the way, he learnt some life-changing lessons.
Dillon said: “My motto used to be 'if someone tells me I can't, I will go out of my way to prove to them I can'... It's the same now, only less spiteful. 'I will go out of my way to prove to myself that I can because I am worthy and I am loved.”
The simple advice to anyone who thinks they are experiencing the symptoms of an eating disorder is to speak to your GP.

Do your children do the Daily Mile?
The Daily Mile is a run or a jog of a mile for children aged from two to 11 years old. It was developed to help defeat obesity and promote better mental and physical health amongst younger school age children.
There is no preparation or special training required for schools to run this activity. Now celebrating its eleventh anniversary, over four million children now run the daily mile in over 90 countries. In England alone, partnerships with Sport England, supported by the National Lottery, ITV and London Marathon, have led to record engagement with The Daily Mile, resulting in over two million children participating.
To help boost participation, your school can join in the fun by taking part in World Daily Mile Day on Thursday, 27 April.

Detecting bowel cancer at the earliest stage makes you up to nine times more likely to be successfully treated. The NHS is asking everyone who is sent the test to remember to complete it.
The test detects signs of cancer before you notice anything wrong, is simple to complete and can be done in the privacy of your own bathroom. If you’re sent a bowel cancer screening kit, put it by the loo, don’t put it off.
