![Image promoting small biz Saturday](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKHOUNSLOW/2022/12/6803149/4458590/smallbizsat_crop.jpg) We can’t wait to celebrate Small Business Saturday this coming weekend. The annual celebration takes place on the busiest shopping day of the year. The cost of living crisis has put pressure on businesses, so Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to support and celebrate the borough's fantastic range of local enterprises.
Ahead of the weekend, Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Shantanu Rajawat and Cllr Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Development (pictured), have been out and about across the borough visiting businesses as they prepare for the festive season.
We hope residents will join us in shopping locally this weekend - whether it’s your high street or market - it all makes a difference.
Don’t forget to share your favourite local business with us on social media this weekend by using #HounslowShopLocal

Keeping Hounslow safe together
![Graphic depicting the safeguarding of children in Hounslow](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKHOUNSLOW/2022/12/6802687/4458592/safeguarding-graphic-social-oct222_crop.jpg) Partners in Hounslow are working together to keep children and young people in our borough safe from harm outside the home.
The Hounslow Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP), has developed a new Adolescent Safeguarding Strategy, which looks at the threats that children and young people face from issues such as drugs, gang violence and criminal and sexual exploitation.
The HSCP consists of Council representatives, police officers and NHS staff. The strategy seeks to tackle the problems our children and young people face head on by the partners working closely to provide practical action and support.
The Council's Director of Children's Services, Steven Forbes, explains more about the strategy in a special blog post. Click the button below to read it.
Hounslow Council and Bees link up to eliminate violence against women and girls
White Ribbon Day, 25 November, marks the start of one of the world’s biggest campaigns on eliminating violence against women and girls. Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council, along with Marcus Gayle, former Brentford player and Club Ambassador, have signed their names on the White Ribbon pledge.
Marcus said: "I feel proud to wear the white ribbon and I would encourage men and boys to pledge their support. We can all make a difference together.”
From November 25 to December 10 each year, the United Nations runs its global 16 days of activism campaign, which this year includes Hounslow House being lit up purple, a social media campaign and a pop-up event with local voluntary and community groups to raise awareness around gender-based violence.

Overnight resurfacing work on A4 this December
Transport for London (TfL) is to carry out roadworks from 5 to 12 December to resurface the A4 Cedars Road at the junction with Sutton Court Road - between 5 Cedars Road and Eastbourne Road in Chiswick.
This work will improve the long-term condition of this stretch of highway. Barrowgate Road bus stops H and F will be suspended during this time. Signs on suspended bus stops will direct customers to the nearest alternative bus stop.
TfL will make every effort to finish the works on time, although poor weather conditions may require workers to reschedule at short notice. Delays are expected if you are driving in the area and you should check before you travel, use alternative routes and allow more time for your journey.

Research has shown that people who get flu and Covid-19 at the same time can become seriously ill.
The number of groups who can get their Covid-19 booster for free has expanded and now includes the over 50s, as well as younger people in other priority groups. There are plenty of venues across the borough, including GP surgeries and pharmacies, where residents can get boosters.
