The Early Years SEN Team works with Ofsted registered early years providers to help develop quality inclusive provision and to support the inclusion of children from 0 – 5 years with special educational needs and/or disability (SEND). We are a hard working and committed team that is seeking to recruit two highly motivated, experienced and skilled early years practitioners to join us. The posts are for an Early Years SEN Inclusion Quality Improvement Advisor and an Early Years SEN Specialist Practitioner.
Both posts are full time and permanent. For further information, please see the Hounslow Council Jobs Website www.hounslow.gov.uk/jobs or email Anne.Doran@hounslow.gov.uk
As new cohorts of children join your provision, please remember to inform your allocated advisors of any children known to Social Care, or vulnerable children who are attending your setting. This ensures we can review and support all our most vulnerable children that attend our early years provision in Hounslow.
The SCV process covers children who are;
- assessed as being in need under section 17 of the Children Act 1989, including children and young people who have:
- A child in need plan
- A child protection plan
- A looked after child
- known previously to Social Care or children who you consider to be vulnerable.
In addition to looking at how to store data concerning young people, the ICO has also published guidelines for app developers vis a vi their suitability for children. The document – ‘Age Appropriate Design’ can also be used by educational professionals to become better acquainted with what to look out for whilst executing safeguarding duties. Duties which today require a serious examination of mobile applications and the vulnerabilities they can impose on young users. If you're interested in reading more about their views on what makes an app acceptable for children please follow the link below:

The Information Commissioner’s Office has published detailed guidance to education providers on the correct processing of vital education data. As navigating the many legal and practical requirements of secure information processing can be a murky affair, this guide is very welcome. Seeking to make sure all members of staff are across data security, the document takes the reader through several topics such as who should have right of data access, or how to recognise a valid subject access request. With online safety more crucial than ever this handy document has a lot of good advice. If you’re interested in the full document please go to the link below:
As winter approaches, it is important we observe health considerations for children, families and staff for the prevention of infectious diseases. Please find below key messages for settings on winter preparedness; two checklists on flu and norovirus readiness and when and how to report outbreaks; and leaflets and further information on flu, norovirus, meningitis and measles.
