Work begins on the next phase of Cycleway 9 on Chiswick High Road
Work has begun on the latest phase of improvements to Cycleway 9 (C9) on Chiswick High Road.
These works will take place on the section of C9 between the junction of Chiswick Lane and up to the turning for Heathfield Terrace.
The scheme is a partnership between Transport for London (TfL), Hounslow Council and Hounslow Highways. It is a temporary, experimental scheme designed to make it easier for residents to cycle for work and leisure.
Have your say on Hounslow's Local Plan
Hounslow Council is inviting residents to comment on the next stage of Local Plan Reviews for the Great West Corridor (GWC) and West of the Borough (WoB), as well as the Site Allocations Plan and FIR.
Your feedback is key in understanding what’s important to you about where you live and in shaping the local area for the future. Share your feedback online or visit a workshop or drop-in event over the coming weeks. The consultation ends on 16 November 2022.
Apply on time for secondary school transfer places
Parents and carers with children in Year 6 and born between 1 September, 2011 and 31 August 2012, can apply to transfer to secondary school in September, 2023.
The easy online application process allows families to choose six secondary schools. Families are encouraged to take their time exploring the range of options available. However, to avoid disappointment, it is vital not to miss the application deadline.
Applications must be submitted by Monday, 31 October 2022.
Any applications received after the deadlines will be considered late, and late applications will only be processed after ‘on time’ applications. Missing the deadline increases the risk of not being offered a place at a preferred school – even if the child already has a sibling there.
The Schools Admissions Team will be able to offer advice and assistance by phone, on 020 8583 2721/2711 or by email admissions@hounslow.gov.uk.
See the park you love light up!
On Saturday, 29 October 2022, Hounslow Council will be hosting Lampton Lights at Lampton Park, an exciting seasonal-themed evening between 6pm – 10pm.
The free event pays homage to several cultural events that take place at this time of year through arts and crafts, food and of course, fireworks.
The evening will be alive with activity and the artistically inclined can take part in mandala making and pumpkin painting to help celebrate Diwali and Halloween respectively, while everyone can bask in the glorious glow of an epic firework display to celebrate Bonfire Night.
We will also have a fabulous funfair, hosting a variety of thrilling rides for all ages, and a delicious selection of food to suit all tastes.

Chiswick Town Centre Vision
The Chiswick Town Centre Vision was adopted by the Council earlier this year after being developed by the local community during 2021.
It's helping tackle local challenges such as increasing shopping footfall and spending, improving the local leisure offer and making the Town Hall a focal point of community initiatives. Find out more about the impact residents can have.
Join us at Chiswick Town Hall on Tuesday 1 November. We’ll be hosting two engagement sessions:
- 1.30pm to 4.30pm
- 5.30pm to 7.30pm
You do not have to book a ticket to join the sessions, anyone can turn up on the day.
If you are unable to attend an in-person session, you will be able to share your feedback online via a short online survey launching soon.

Estates of independence
Last week, Hounslow Council opened a number of offices in estates across the borough. The offices are part of the Council’s wider plans to make its housing services more visible, accessible and responsive.
The offices will be open from Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. If you cannot come at this time, one of our officers would be happy to arrange an appointment at your home at a convenient time.
Councillor Sue Sampson, Cabinet Member for Housing Management and Homelessness, said:
“The new estate offices are part of the Council’s £300 million investment in estates across Hounslow.
“We want to create more opportunities for local people to contribute to decision making locally and this is just one example of how residents will be actively involved in shaping our services.”
