Want to see your photo gracing the cover of the next edition of Hounslow Matters? Then why not get snapping and enter our Great Hounslow Photo Off competition.
We’re holding a photography competition for Hounslow that shows off what an outstanding, borough it really is.
What are we looking for?
We’re asking residents, businesses, and anyone in Hounslow to take a snap of their favourite parts of the borough! Anything from our parks, high streets, iconic landmarks and town centres.
The competition closes on Monday 14 February at 11.59pm.
Feeling lonely is something that all of us can experience at any point in our lives, it can make us feel isolated and have a negative impact on our wellbeing.
The pandemic has been an unsettling time for everyone, and it’s important to remember that many people may still feel disconnected, and will feel comfortable with different things, even when out of restrictions. We can’t compare ourselves to how others may be feeling or acting, and we should all take time to go at our own pace.
Sometimes it can feel easier to help someone else who may be feeling lonely. There are lots of simple actions that you can do to help, including:
Checking in with a family member, friend or neighbour by text or giving them a call Reaching out to someone to suggest catching up over a tea or coffee Inviting someone to join you in getting some fresh air and going for a walk
In taking one of these actions, you could lift someone out of loneliness, and it might help you feel less lonely too.
The Traineeship programme is a 12-week course aimed at assisting young people aged 16 to 18 to enter employment, training or further education. The programme is a full-time course with up to 15 hours a week of work placements, 12 hours a week of employability, including workshops on money management, knife crime, inclusion, health and nutrition - as well as achieving a Sports Leaders Qualification and functional skills in English and Maths. The traineeship will provide the necessary skills and support for training and employment, alongside a bespoke reference for each young person to further support their transition pathway.

Are you a parent/carer of a child or young person in Hounslow?
Do you care about the future of your young people?
Passionate about community and want to find out what other parents and carers think?
We are looking for 12 members of our Hounslow Parent and Carer Researchers group. As a member, you will be designing research in the form of focus groups and interviews. You'll be asking other parents, carers, guardians what they like about Hounslow, what they'd like to see changed for their young people and children. The research will feed into the work young researchers group are creating and leading on.
Meetings and interviews/focus groups will take place during March - April 2022. There will be 4 meetings, where the group will learn more about the research and agree on questions. The group will organise interviews & focus groups, which will be fed back to the group. This research will feed into larger research our Young Researchers group are creating, and will be presented to Hounslow Council.
