London Flood Awareness Week 22-28 November
This week is London Flood Awareness Week and as we head into winter, we’re calling on residents to plan ahead for flooding as much as possible. As well as the emotional toll and stress, every flooded house costs an estimated £30,000, so people should take action to reduce the risk of flooding if they can, and make sure they are prepared in advance if flooding does occur.
Planning ahead can mean checking your flood risk and signing up to flood warnings, as well as taking some simple steps such as checking your insurance, knowing how to turn off your gas, electricity and water or finding out where to go to get help. There is plenty of helpful information online:
Greater London Authority: London Flood Awareness page
Environment Agency’s how to plan ahead for flooding
Thames Water also has information on sewer flooding and what to do if you see flooding.
Lampton Leisure takeover management of Green Lane Sports Ground
Hounslow Council’s Cabinet unanimously agreed to transfer the management of the Green Lane Sports Group to Lampton Leisure, the Council’s wholly owned leisure services company, in the next 12 to 18 months.
This follows decision made in June for the Council to retake control of the site on an interim basis to ensure that the facilities are maintained to the highest standards and accessible to local people and communities.
Since the facilities return to the Council, the main pitch has been completely transformed and refurbished to meet Football Association (FA) standards including floodlighting for evening sports. Work is also underway to improve the facilities and the safety of the Pavilion to operate as a hospitality venue all year round.

Parliament Hill Fields hosts London Youth Games Cross Country
Team Hounslow were represented by 39 young runners with some outstanding results at the recent London Youth Games. The cross-country event saw over 1200 young Londoners from every borough take part at the the iconic Parliament Hill Fields. A venue stooped in rich tradition having already hosted world and national championships.
It had been two years since the annual season launcher had taken place, but there was no sense of respite as hundreds of runners across four age groups tackled the challenging courses.
The team at Lampton Leisure worked with local school clubs and sports provider, Sports Impact, to select the runners for this year’s entrance, as well as manage the team on the day.
The next London Youth Games event will be INDOOR CRICKET. Anyone interested in taking part should contact Jonathan.Barbour@lampton360.co.uk for further details.
