Just under 36,000 people have ‘Stepped Up’ by getting vaccinated in the first two weeks of Hounslow's five-week surge testing and increased vaccination programme!
This figure, which includes first and second doses, brings Hounslow’s total vaccinations tally to more than 251,000 vaccines.
This week’s efforts to tackle cases of the new Delta variant in the borough continue to gather momentum, in a bid to support the further easing of lockdown restrictions later this month.
Hounslow’s Director of Public Health, Kelly O’Neill, appealed to parents to support the campaign as pupils return to the classroom following the half term break saying, “If we are going to keep the 21 June roadmap date possible then now is the time for everyone to ‘Step Up For Hounslow’. Even if you are one of the 251,000 people who have had their vaccination in the borough so far, it is vital you get a PCR test. We all need to contribute to keeping children in school and reducing the spread of the Delta variant. Please get a PCR test as soon as you can, even if you are taking regular LFT ‘rapid tests’. If you have any questions, please just ask. We’re here to help.”
Council staff (carrying I.D) are door-knocking in the Feltham and Bedfont areas of the Borough, delivering PCR test kits and leaving letters with information and details of support for anyone not at home.
Several vaccination sites will be operating across Hounslow to make it as easy as possible for residents to get their jab - including pop-up sites at the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, the Hounslow Jamia Masjid and Islamic Centre and Meadowbank Adult and Community Education Centre on Saturday where around 500 people were vaccinated on Saturday (5 June).
There are now even more places where residents can access a PCR test too, including Heston Library, Bedfont Library and Isleworth Library. Locations and opening hours for pop-up vaccination sites and PCR test sites are regularly updated on the Council’s website at: www.hounslow.gov.uk/surge
Getting the vaccine is one of the best ways we can stop the spread of the virus and curb the impact of any new variants of concern.
Below you can find a list of all our upcoming pop-up vaccination clinics over the next few days, more details of which are here.
It's important that you get a PCR test as soon as you can to identify any new variants of concern and keep the infection rate under control, even if you've already had a vaccine.
If you are a parent and your child is returning to school this week our ask of you is to HELP REDUCE DISRUPTION TO EDUCATION. Keep schools COVID-safe as pupils return to the classroom by getting a PCR test.
